Okay Claudia is 6 years old now. I stopped breastfeeding when she was 27 mths old. I am still producing milk. Is this even possible, okay it must be possible if it still happening. But I never realized how much I still produce until I had a hot bath lastnight. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Being a nurse at OBYGN, this is from patients not my personal experience obviously. We have had patients tell us for up to 10-12 years they still have some sort of breast milk, but usually only when you Squeeze the nipple to check ya know?
If it is just running out or leaking out for no reason then I would see your doctor about that. Are you sure it is milk? or is is just nipple discharge? -------------------- Mother to Jacob & Conner. Wife to Loren |

I don't know if it's milk or what it is. I know during AF I get some discharge from my breasts and I've always thought that that was normal. I looked like breastmilk. And I just saw my OBGYN after waiting 7 months to see him. The next time I see him will be when he inserts this new type of birth control called mirena. Which won't be inserted until AF is nearly completed or has complete next month. I will bring up these concerns. Thanks Everyone! -------------------- |

I would let them know about it, it is probably just hormonal nipple discharge and NOT breast milk.
The mirena is an IUD. Good luck! -------------------- Mother to Jacob & Conner. Wife to Loren |

Are you sure it is breast milk? Why don't you schedule a visit to your OB and have your breast checked? I stopped producing breast milk 4 months after I weaned my baby. However, with the previous posts, it seems possible for breast to still continue producing breast milk even after breastfeeding is stopped. Still, better be sure than sorry. Schedule a visit to your doctor ASAP!
