Allie has had a cold for the past week, and it's really bad in her eyes. They are really super goopy - I mean it's horrible, there is always green goop coming out of her eyes and getting caked in her eyelashes and underneath her eyes. Her eyelids and under her eyes are swollen and purple from me wiping it off - I've tried to just leave it alone so as not to irritate her eyes anymore but then they get so bad and start to get stuck shut.
A friend of mine told me to rub the tear ducts in a circular motion with a warm washcloth - I tried it twice and not only did it make her scream bloody murder it didn't do any good. Any ideas? TIA! -------------------- |

Here are some pictures of what it looks like - these pictures don't even do justice to how pathetic she looks though. I feel so awful every time I look at her!!
She's got blueberry applesauce on her face too - sorry. And here are a couple from earlier today too This post has been edited by ~Roo'sMama~ on May 16 2008, 04:39 PM -------------------- |

Awwww! Poor baby!
She's so darn cute!!!! Ethan and Maddie both had the clogged ducts when they were infants and we did the washcloth thing. But, it looks like Allie may have an infection. Has she seen her ped yet for the cold? They might could give her some drops for her eyes. She probably rubbed her eyes and got a cold in her eye. I hope she feels better soon. |

I agree with Aimee. Looks like an infection to me. If it is it will spread easy so make sure you do lots of hand washing and call the doc.

Colt also had the clogged ducts, but I don't remember it being green. I'd definitely have her checked out, I hope she feels better soon!

No I haven't taken her in yet- our insurance is so bad. I've been really thinking about it though. When she had that bronchiolitis when she was just a few weeks old she had the goopy eye thing and her ped gave her an antibiotic cream that helped. I think I actually have some of it left, but it probably wouldn't be good to use it now. She always does get runny/goopy eyes when she's got a cold but never this bad. Of course whenever anything gets to the point where I decide we need to go to the doctor, it's the weekend. I don't know if our clinic is open on saturdays or not - last I knew they weren't but maybe it's changed. I think I am going to call in the morning and see if they have someone there so I can get her in. -------------------- |

I couldn't get her in because the clinic isn't open on saturdays, but the on-call dr. called in a prescription for her eyes. But we haven't been able to get it yet - she called it in to Cub pharmacy where we usually go because they're open on weekends, but it's half an hour away and we just haven't been able to get in to town during their open hours. The only pharmacy in the town we live in isn't open on weekends. Her eyes do seem to be getting a little better though - Dh is going to pick up the prescription on his way home from work tomorrow. -------------------- |
