Can you give me some information/opinion about LA Weight Loss - that is what you are doing right?

I am thinking of joining - it is only $3 a week now - WW is too expensive and I never seem to get to the meetings and think I would really like more one on one anyway....I have lost like 8 lbs and haven't gained it back but am not losing anymore........

Thanks!

Well, they've recently changed the program a little since I started, so I'm relearning. But they basically guarantee a loss of between 1.5-2 pounds per week. The new program has a special plate (freezer, dishwasher, microwave safe). Each of your foods goes in one of the sections of the plate, they are made so that the size fo the section corresponds to the size of a serving of veggies, fruits, protein, starch, etc.
You are allowed "x" number of servings of each food group per day and are encouraged to eat all of your servings. They'll try to get you to buy the LA lites which are snack bars that are basically identical to Slim Fast bars. And slimfast are much cheaper.
You have to pay up front for the number of weeks it is estimated to take you to get off the weight you desire. You set your goal. If you wan't to lose 15, you say so, if you want to lose more, you say so. They will tell you if your goal weight may be a bit unreasonable. Then you also pay for a full year after you make the goal weight. It's called maintenance and you still go in for WI and can talk to your counselor. Basically, maintenance is to assist you in keeping the weight off. If you are still at or near your goal weight at the end of the year, you get back 1/2 of your original investment.
It's really worked for me. I wouldn't make meetings with WW either, but this I can go and do anytime basically. Also, I am supposed to go in 3 times/week and that helps keep me honest. I also have to food journal. Which gives you an idea of when your weak times are and how much you may snack that you don't realize. So far, I have averaged just over 1.8 pounds/week. And I am proud to say that I've lost 35 pounds now. Another 25 til my goal, but I feel great and I've dropped 2 pant sizes. I'm down to a 14. Never thought I'd see that number again on my pants. If you do join, they'll ask you how you heard of it and I might get credit for the referral. So, let me know, I'll get you my information in a PM.
Good luck whatever you choose. $3/week is better than I got. I paid $5/week.

Thanks Kelly and sorry about the title - BrownEyedBoy not BLUE!! Duh...

I am going to make an appt. for tomorrow afternoon - I think I am going to give it a whirl...I think the one on one and the three times a week would be great - and it is on my way home so it wouldn't be a huge hardship to get there...

PM your info so you can get credit for it....

And WAY TO GO with the 35 lbs lost - I sure hope I can do it - maybe we can be buddies in it!!

I will let you know how I make out tomorrow!!

Thanks again!

Hey Kelly - how does your center do the LA Lites thing??? Mine I had to sign the contract saying I would purchase them at $29 a week - either way I don't really care - I NEED to do this for myself for the sake of my majorly sagging ego, and my health - the whole program cost me $261 - 29 weeks to lose the weight, 6 weeks of stabilization and then 52 weeks of maintenance....they no longer do the 1/2 back and they also don't do the guarantee anymore...I read something about some lawsuits associated with this.....

So anyway I will start on Saturday with the Fast Forward part.....

Wish me luck

Ok, is the $261 on top of the $29 a week or does it include it?? Because it looks like you're on the program for

87 wks x $29/wk = $2523 + $261= $2784 for 87 wks.

That just sounds super expensive. But maybe I'm reading it wrong...dunno.gif

I've thought long and hard about LA Weight Loss too, especially since Kelly seems to be doing so well. Well I guess I haven't thought long and hard about it, I dont' think there's one close to me. I know I wouldn't do it if I had to go out of my way.

Yes the $29 is on top of the $261 but the amount of bars you use each week goes down....so during the losing part - the 29 weeks its $29 a week - expensive I know but I figure it will be replacing other food I would buy at the grocery store for snacks, etc. - KWIM? Like I said at this point - I don't really care....

I was strongly "encouraged" to buy the bars in bulk. I resisted. I still buy 10 boxes at a time now and again, but I buy most of them in the grocery store. But like you said, it's an investment in yourself and your body. Over those weeks, you will learn new eating habits and you will feel so much better about both your body and your health. It has made a huge difference for me. I just sounded like a commercial. Sorry.

No - keep the commercials coming - myself is my main motivation but it is extra motivation to hear from someone who has done soo well on it!!! You are an inspiration - I added it all up and it is pretty expensive but when I look back at all the money I have spent on WW, diet pills, this fad diet book, that fad diet book, you name it to me it is worth it - and paying that money up front is a huge motivator as well - I am stingy so now I HAVE to get my money's worth!!!

The upfront money was a big motivator for me as well. Not to mention that scale looming 3 times/week. LOL. You can do this, Christine. I'll be there too.
