She is fixing to go into 10th grade..she is sooo worried about what classes to take. She wants them to be fun and educational.

We have looked at that career book a millions times.

I was never this serious about school and I am proud. I think we have narrowed it down to classes to revolve around design..interior and fashion.

She really likes interior the best. The have an awesome program she has worked w/ some ....and they design completely by computer. Her module won..

They didn't have this stuff when I was in high school. You got you basics and went on so I guess it is neat!

Wow that is really cool! Yeah I went to school around the time you did....times have changed. The only option for us was the career centers you could go to but it was mostly the "hoods" that went there.

rolleyes.gif "hoods", do they still call them that??

You must be doing a good job for her to be thinking ahead like this!!! Great job Mom!!! thumb.gif

Honestly, at 15, she should keep her options open. Most kids go through a zillion carreer possibilities before they hit college, and a lot of them still don't have a clue when they enter college. Many of them major in Liberal Arts, take a sampling of things, and then decide.

So have her fill her electives with the things she's interested in, but be sure she keeps an academic focus too, if she's thinking of college. Be sure she takes a math and an english-- the core requirements change from one state to the next, but all colleges want someone who can read, write, and show basic competancy or more in math. They also want the SAT, which, as of last month, has changed. It includes 3 years of high school math (algebra, geometry and trig) and now includes a writing section. As tempting as it may be to concentrate on the thing she's sure she wants, and take nothing but "fun" courses, think of the number of guys she'll "love" before she meets prince Charming. It's the same thing for most kids with carreer paths.

John took all CP collage prep his 9th and 10th grade
And 11th and 12th he took all AP Advanced Prep? Not sure of the P part
If she is going to collage she should look into CP or AP classes.
Johns GF is going to collage for interior design
So if she needs help with anything let me know ok

Oh I understand what you are saying they dont call it that here.

This is stange..they have a vocational school..and college prep school for high school here.

Yes she is College bound I hope!

Thank you for the offer..

I know she might change her mind 100 times..but she can try different things and learn different things.

I promise you 90% of doctors say..thats what I wanted to be when I was a kids...Determination..is what it take..no matter what they are doing.

I think it is amazing she is even worried about it.. I tried to just get it done and get out.

VoTech is a great program
I went there started out in 9th grade and did my rounds and decided to stay with foods over graphic arts ...... It was a good choice at the time but working in that field is hellish.
So I stopped working in that field and we decided to have babies lol.
But now I'm back in that field working at the school so Its not too bad now.
I'm sure they will make sure she needs everything and has the right classes.
