He bathed with her once I think maybe twice but he had his boxers on. I take bathes with my daughter all the time (without a bathing suit) She's not old enough to remember at this point (10 months old)

Yes, my husband has bathed and showered with Thomas many many times. I don't see anything wrong with it especially since they are both males. They can continue to do it as long as they like, as far as I'm concerned.

My dh has bathed with all my kids, and still will occasionally bathe with my 4 yo dd. The kids sort of let you know when it's no longer appropriate. To my dd, nudity is still a non issue. We tend to be pretty casual about it around here, and I don't think there's anything inappropriate about it among family members as long as no one's feeling uncomfortable about it.

Both DH and I have in the past with my son. We stopped when he was about 3. No real reason, we just didn't do it any more. We haven't with our daughter, but really only because we don't really have time for baths any more, plus, my son would want to join in, then we would have 3 in the tub.
It was really more fun in the water time, than bath time for us. |

No, but only because he hates baths. He showers with them though.

Hubby used to, but the boy is getting rather too curious these days so he stopped. He is almost 5.

We both bathe with our daughter sometimes its just easier.. but whenever she starts to "notice" that we are naked we will probably stop.. maybe even sooner.. but right now she doesn't care

I don't think either DH or I have ever bathed with the kids, even when they were babies. Nothing against those who do, its just I never really felt it necessary. I'm not a bath taker myself, I'm strictly showers, so I guess we never felt the need.

DH bathed with both girls all the time and still does on rare occasions. Brooke is into showers now and Madison is in the "I hate water on my head" phase so DH makes me bathe her.

Carl brings Carly intot he shower with him often (I do too) because she just doesn't like baths but loves showers - she's only 6 months old though.

My fiance hasn't ever showered with Arik, but they met when Arik was 2. I have showered with Arik quite a bit, it saves time and I can make sure he gets clean. But that stopped about a month ago. He has gotten too curious about the "special spots." We had to start calling them that so he knows he can't look at them or touch. Yesterday he asked me why I had to wear a bra. I told him it holds them up, and he said, "So they stand still?" I had to laugh but told him yeah!

Those of you who shower/bathe with your babies... what do you set the water temperature? My wife says the temp for a baby should be "neither warm nor cool" but her shower temp is definitely warm and mine is hot. Both would be too hot for the baby in my wife's opinion.

I think I know what you're asking here. I think the appropriate temperature for a baby in the shower is just a little bit warm on the back of the arm (where the veins are closest to the skin). I think in a bath the temperature can be a little warmer than that. We found that most of the time the kids would let us know what they thought was comfortable and not in their own special ways. -------------------- Ed is husband to Lisa (since 1983) Dad to Ricky, John, Erin and Kaitlin The Administrators of the Parenting Club take trolls and violators of the Terms of Service Agreement seriously. that's mostly how i did it, especially when he got a little older and could communicate better, but DW always had a way of knowing makes me a little envious of her ability to do that, but she is the mother:P |

My fiancé has before, but he doesn't do it often. He's very timid, lol. He does it sometimes (very very rarely) when he's taking care of the younger kids and us older family members are out. Hehe. I think it's cute.
As for me, I have bathed with all of my kids, and I do it quite often as a mother. (Not with my teenager and 7 yr-old NOW, though, hahaha). As they grow older I've experienced that there's never a particular moment when the kids stop doing it or say "okay, it's ust weird now", it just... gradually happens, and it's kind of mutally known without being spoken of. Not that we wouldn't speak of it or anything because it's inappropriate or whatever , it just hasn't arised. Lol. I confused myself a bit. Haha. Anyway, I think that if everyone is comfortable with it, then it should be encouraged for sure. It's a nice bonding experience with littlies. |

Update: We put my DD is the shower with me and she didn't like the water. I don't know if it was the pressure or the temp. Anyway, she didn't like it but she got through it.

I used to when I had to save money and time, but now it's not as necessary. When time is the issue, I just give her a bath the night before or a couple hours before we have to leave to where ever.
