Ashley has her pictures today for ballet. The recital is not until Saturday but they are taking individual and class photos today. She is Belle, her costume is so cute! But, I am having problems with her hair. She has very long thick hair and I can't seem to get into a bun that looks good... any ideas or tips you could give would be helpful!

all i can advise is LOTS of bobby pins. when i was a dancer we had alot of girls with Ashleys kind of hair and we spent hours getting their hair up. you can also use a hairnet in her hair color. and then bobby that too. a time savor but it won't give the same super smooth hair look.

Try putting the hair into 1 ponytail kinda low in the back of the head, then braid the ponytail and wrap into bun. Use bobby pins and a hairnet if you can find one use lots and lots of gel and hair spray so it will stay put.

I usually part my daughter’s hair on the side but it totally up to you. Good luck!

I dunno when pictures are but if you still need advice I suggest putting it up wet, then pin the heck out of it and spray GOOD. thats just one trick we use in the theatre

Thanks everyone...

My SIL has a friend that works at a salon, and she is going to do Ashley's hair for the pictures. I will be on my own on Saturday though, so I will try a few of these tricks and see what works best before then.

when i was younger my mom used to have me tip my head upside down and then braid it from the base of the neck up, and then when you get to the top of the head you can curl those pieces to just flip around kinda lose, i dont know if you wanted her to have no lose hair, but it always looked nice...

Dee Dee, I wish I knew what to tell you. Kylie has her pictures this Saturday and the thought of trying to get all that curly hair into a bun is freaking me out. I need to do a practice run before Saturday I guess. blush.gif

This is what I use on K's hair. http://www.hairdini.com/Hairdini2.html actually, ours is another brand that we got at walgreens but it's the same idea. make a nice smooth pony (we use a fine tooth comb and a boar bristle brush to get K's hair flat to her head) then stick the pony in, roll up and attach the ends to make the bun. bobby pin in place and add a hairnet if desired.

I actually got a compliment from the head of the dance company on K's bun. blush.gif

Do you remember what the name of the thing is that you got at Walgreens? They looked at me like I was crazy when I was trying to decribe it. rolling_smile.gif I am going to try to do the bun for the recital.
