Jacob had his hearing tested on monday with perfect results. he had his eyes tested today and the optometrist is almost certain Jacob is dyslexic. he said he sees everything fine, his brain is just processing it funny. so i guess i will wait til the meeting in december with "the team" to see how we deal with this. they will likely do the testing for dyslexia and when we have the definitive results hopefully then can help me help him.

will let u all know how it goes in december.

thanks for the support!

I have several friends who excelled in school once their dyslexia was identified and they got the right techniques to work around this (in fact, my friend Vicki can now speed-read with great retention as a result of her reading techniques). If it does turn out to be that, there are so many good resources. Thanks for letting us know how things are going!

So glad you are finding out what the problem is. My DH is dyslexic and they didn't find out till he was alot older so he still struggles. Hopefully finding out sooner will be an advantage for your son. Keep us posted!

Identifying the problem is a big step. thumb.gif I have heard that there are lots of things that they can do to help kids with dyslexia. They have made so many advances in this area... I watched a show on Discovery Health about dyslexia not too long ago. Children that are diagnosed early go on to excel in school. Let us know how it goes.

My nephew (by marriage, not blood) was diagnosed with something called delayed dyspraxia. Once diagnosed they got a host of answers and ways to work with him and they saw so much improvement. I hope you get more answers soon!
