8 months old right?
If I had to do it alone This is what I did: Get a syringe type medicine dropper. Lay the child on their back hold his hands against his body with one of your arms, put the syringe in his mouth, face towards his cheek, dispense medicine, then blow in his face. The puff of air startles him just enough so he stops crying, swallows and your done. If you have a helper then lay child or sit child in their lap, and the helper holds child like he is in a straight jacket. If holding the child is impossible then wrap in towel from neck down. Hope this helps!! -------------------- Anne Marie Mom to Billy & Mary Beth Wife to Lee |

Yeah, I've tried that. It worked for a while, but it's as if he adapted and learned how to hold it IN his cheek. 'Cause he would hoot and holla so I'd think he'd swallowed it, and then when I'd turn around, he'd spit it out.
I swear, kids are getting smarter every day. Nothing surprises me when I see a child learn or figure out how to do something. It's as if they're teaching US, and seeing what WE can learn. That's been the best advice, and tactic, yet. But, I end up wasting more than he actually consumes. It's frustrating w/o hubby here. We used to be a successful tag-team! |

I had to give jacob meds alot when he was younger and I used the syringe that the pharmacy gives you like 3-5ML and then hold him like a baby and put his one arm behind you and hold the other down with your arm and then squirt a little bit at a time in the side of his cheek he eventually will swallow it and then keep doing that until all down and then when you are all done let him hold the syringe with you right there and play with it so as he gets bigger he will accept it better...At least that worked for Jacob.

does he take a bottle, I used to put medicine in Jasons bottle. If not, a syringe is much easier than a dropper.

Two suggestions:
1 - Just squirt in a little at the time. Then if he does spit it out not alot is wasted. 2 - Mylicon is great for more than gas. I let Tripp have a taste - just lick the dropper - before and sometimes between squirts of his Zantac. So far it works - we'll see how long it takes him to figure it out!!!! -------------------- |

My doc told me this one .... keep the med in the fridge, and mix it with oj. The cold plus the tang of the oj help mask the med.
