How many of you would/did buy your kids a car?
I bought all my other kids cars, becuase they went to all different schools, in different towns, different times, and all played many sports. So it just made sense that on their 16th Birthday they got cars. Now my youngest will be 16 soon, do I buy the car for Christmas? She goes to the school I teach at, and only plays one sport per school year. It's almost not worth it, but I feel like I'm being unfair. What would you do? |

I odn't know....but I see your issue. We got cars when we were younger but not new ones - used and mostly reliable. Are you talking brand new???
I would see how it would be unfair - maybe you should..........gosh I don't know -------------------- |

Nope they bought their own with a little help from us
But we pay their insurance until they get out of school then they start paying for their share of the bill. -------------------- Wife to Ed (Redchief)

I would say if the answer is yes to all these questions and you bought for the other kids, then yes it would be unfair if you didn't for her. -------------------- |

Yes, all the other kids were okay kids, they all got new cars, cept the last one, who really wanted a specific car, and we only found it used, but it was expensive. Shes a great kid, especailly in comparison to them, she goes above and beyond what she is asked to do, with very little issues.
It is a tough decision though, me and my husband cant seem to come to an agreement, she hasnt asked, but we know shes thinking shell get it soon, but not being greedy. Which is another reason we think we should, but I jsut dont know. |

Honestly, if her older siblings all got cars and she's a good kid then she should get one too.
That being said I remember how all of my friends drove at 16 and no way no how am I buying my kids a car until they have a few years under their belt. -------------------- |

I had to buy my own car, and pay my own insurance, and I plan on making my children do the same thing, but if you did it for your other kids, then I think you have to do it for this one too.
