Why does it have to take so long? Why can't I be as fertile as others? I've wanted another baby since Abby was about an hour old LOL. Now, she's almost 17 months old, and still nothing; no periods. Temping is proving useless, so I'm starting to think there's something else wrong. Abby is nursing only 4-5 times a day, so I don't think that has much to do with it.
I am going to see an endocrinologist to help me get my hormones in order. It's so hard when you want something so badly, but can't have it. I am starting to get all obsessive about it again . -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

Sorry Mollie, that's hard. I bet you just aren't ovulating yet. You can get your period and not ovulate, but not the other way around. Would you ever consider weaning completely so that you can conceive? I know how strongly you feel about nursing, so I'm not trying to push you one way...But since you want another baby so bad, it may be the answer the doc gives you to help you ovulate naturally, kwim.

No, I wouldn't wean Abby prematurely . I've gotten pregnant before while breastfeeding; Hannah was nursing when I got pregnant with Kayla' then they were BOTH still nursing when I got pregnant with Abby, so I know it's possible for me to get pregnant while BFing. I think it's more about my thyroid than anything. Thanks for the hugs you guys! -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

mollie, I know that sometimes it is just harder when you are thinking about it and worrying about it..
I think the more times I "tried" the longer it took, or so it seemed. when we just let it happen, it did. maybe you are just missing the right time? but I also think woman know their bodies and if you think you need to have your thyroid checked then that might be a good idea. good luck -------------------- Stacy, wife to Peter, mom to Caleb, Jakob, and Andrew

I know it must be very rough on you. Try to think about how fortunate you are to have the wonderful kids you do already - some people can't even have one. I'm sure when the timing is right and you are meant to you'll have another.

To clarify a few things, we're not TTC right now, I wish we were. I'm still waiting for AF to come back after Abby was born (she's almost 17 months old). I've been tested for hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue, and I have both. They are complicated conditions, and they help regulate sex hormones as well, so if they aren't functioning properly, neither are the sex hormones, which means that I'm all messed up basically.
It's frustrating to me, since I'm having a hard time finding someone to treat me properly. I know what I need, but no one will give it to me . I am doing self-care right now, and I have some raw thyroid & adrenal supplements on the way soon to help me get back to normal. I've already started a variety of vitamins (mainly B's) and minerals, and already feel better from that. -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

Oh I'm sorry. I thought you were already trying. That is a long time for AF not to show up I would think. Hopefully you can get things back to normal so you can start trying. -------------------- |

Mollie, I know quite a bit about thyroid disorders, I have hyperthyroildism, graves and hashimoto (sp) all at the same time, and yes it does affect your cycles and TTC etc. My advice is get to an endocrinologist and get on synthroid I think it is and it will make you feel better much quicker, there is one that is safe while BF too. My condition is opposite to yours but same underlying problems, which all suck! -------------------- |

Thanks Jen! Yes, I need Synthroid or Armour, for sure. I just called about getting a referral to an endocrinologist. I hope it's not a 6 month wait . -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

Wait - I am confused - if you aren't TTC right now how do you know its taking so long? Is it because you are waiting for AF to return and some of your thyroid issues to clear up before you start TTC and that is what is taking so long??? Either way - its hard when you want something and have to wait -------------------- |

I WANT to be TTCing, but yes, I can't due to the thyroid & adrenal issues, along with not having AF yet (which has to do with the thyroid/adrenals). I'm just so bummed out that I'm not pregnant again yet . -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

Well, I have an appointment to see an endocrinologist on May 28th. As much as I dislike doctors, I will see what he has to say, and then do my own research.
If he even MENTIONS weaning Abby, he will get an earful . -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |
