Does anyone here have any suggestions on what Dh and I can do to help our son, Dylan get into a nighttime sleeping schedule? He is 4 weeks today so he may still be a little bit young to be on any kind of sleeping pattern, but I honestly need a good nights sleep! My Dh is a very heavy sleeper so he sleeps right through the night with no problem and since he works I have been trying to take care of Dylan all by myself at night, but I am getting extremely fatigued. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! -------------------- |

I'm not much help b/c I let my kids set their own schedule at that age, luckily they were nice to me!
Hang in there, it'll get better. |

The best thing I know of is to get agood routine going. One that says this is bedtime. Bath, feed, read, pray, sleep. That's an example of what we do with Kathryn. I have to be honest at first she woke up every 2 or 3 hours, then twice when she was about a month. Sounds like he might have his days and nights mixed up. Hope you get some rest soon.

At this age if he's eating well and often enough you can start nudging him towards a routine. I'll pm you. (And I'm not talking about ferberizing or anything remotely like that)

My newborn is 3 weeks today and so far he has been getting up every 3-4 hours. One time he got up after 5 hours.. I heard that if you give them a bath at night that should relax them to sleep a little more...
I also noticed that if he naps more during the day, he actually sleeps more at night. Good luck!!! [COLOR=purple] |

We are trying to feed Ander a little later so he will eat more right before bed and sleep longer at night. Also, when we wake to feed him at night, we wake, change him, give him his bottle, hold him for 30 minutes (because he has bad reflux), and then tuck him in. We interact with him tons for daytime feedings, but at night, lights stay low and we cuddle but we don't talk to him.
I think it's working. He's 9 weeks old (3 weeks gestational age) and starting to sleep a lot more at night. He still wakes twice, though. -------------------- Kristy
