Ok I thought we had this all decided, but two weeks ago Dh and I were talking and I found out that he doesn't really like Allison and Allie spelled with the two L's, he likes it better spelled with one. So I like it spelled "Allison" and "Allie" and he likes it "Alison" and "Ali". Two L's looks more classic to me, so I like it better - plus when I see it spelled "Alison" I always want to put the emphasis on the "lis" part, so it sounds like "Alison". "Ali" is looking less weird to me the more I think about it, but my cousin used to be married to a guy from Iran named Ali, so I always think of him when I see it spelled that way.
Dh, on the other hand, says that when it's spelled with two L's he sees the word ALL in it and wants to say it ALLison. It's such a simple name how can we be having a hard time with this? I like it either way, but I don't want to pick one way and then wish we'd picked the other way... and I don't want to spell it differently than it is spelled on the birth certificate so it's not like I can change my mind later. Help! -------------------- |

Really I like that name no matter how you spell it!! BUT seeing as my name (shortened) is ALI, I had to vote for the 1 L..

I like it spelled Allison with two l's. It seems like that is how it is sposed to be spelt. Plus a friend in hs was named 'Ali' and that was her whole name and she was always self-centered and egotistic. And like you said, it reminds me of a middle-east man too.

Allison.
I knew someone called Allison, but I never knew how to spell there name. I just automatically assumed it was Alyson. That's how I spelt there name for years, on cards and letters, then I found out she spelt it Allison She never corrected me though. -------------------- Nina, Mama to Emily Kate, Odessa Jean & Aysun Aleisha.
