when you feel the satisfaction of watching your kid conquer a fear masterfully. Boy, when they happen, treasure them. I posted a clip last week of Corey's first practice meet, during which I was thrilled that she just got out there and did her events without caving in to her performance anxiety. Well...this weekend she had her first "real" meet against other teams, and not only did she do well, but she actually medalled on the floor exercise, beating everyone on her own team in her age group and level, and even quite a few in the older age group. I was so thrilled for her!
When it was all over and I asked her how she felt about the whole thing, she said her only regret was that there aren't any more meets for awhile because she loves to compete! Go figure. Anyway, we put her beam routine, as well as her floor routine up on youtube if anyone wants to check it out, though the floor routine is identical to the one most of you already saw. thanks for indulging my shameless bragging... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN5iZX4whO0 -------------------- Jeanne

More, More.... I just love watching her! You would never guess that she had any kind of apprehension. She looks very confident out there. And, she's extremely talented. I am so proud of her, I can imagine that you must be bursting at the seams!

Jeanne, I'm so glad you posted this...I was going to ask you if you'd post more video from the next meet...I just love watching her!
Wow, she's sure got the wow factor...she doesn't even look nervous anymore, she's such a natural! Btw, I actually gasped a few times watching her on the beam...I don't know she does it. And I don't know how you do it, that would scare the daylights out of me. She's SO good and So cute! -------------------- |

She was incredibly cautious and tentative during her beam routine--I've seen her leap much higher and and execute her moves much better in practice--she was nervous b/c she wasn't used to being on such a high beam. Usually, she's on a lower one. A few weeks back in practice, she did fall on the beam and shaved off a few layers of skin off of her outer thigh, like road rash. If you think the beam is scary, you should see the bars--THAT freaks me out, but the video we got of that was pretty crappy quality. Anyway, thanks guys, I am hugely relieved that we jumped that emotional hurdle. Looks like I'll be logging alot of hours at the gym from here on in...They're gonna miss me at the baseball fields...

I showed these the video to Jamison--she Loves it!! Her first reaction was..."hey, I know that music", so all the way here in Ohio, we have the same lovely music.
Corey is fantastic--such poise --her little back is like rubber! -------------------- Brenda, a mom and wife in love with my family
