I made a big batch of homemade vegetable beef soup. How should I freeze it? Should I just use those freezer storage bags? If so, is there an easy way to get it in the bag without making a mess?

I use a vacuum sealer but those freezer bags work pretty well, I usually just hold it open with one hand and use a ladle to scoop it in. I like to fill it as full as I can and still be able to close it so no air gets in.
I know you said you don't use tupperware anymore but if you have any left, or the Glad disposable storages, they're good for freezing soups too. This post has been edited by luvmykids on Jun 22 2008, 10:58 AM |

we freeze in glass containers, Just leaving extra space at teh top. Rarely do we use any plastic and sicne we have no microwave we only reheat by oven. toaster oven or stove top. (or grill) However if you are using ziploc style bags. it is best to fil them 2/3 full and squueze any air out. then zip them shut and lie them flat. they store better this was and you cna jus tcut the bag off with scissor if you heat form frozen state.
