We often receive questions about the different functions and features on the board, so the Mods have decided to come up with weekly tips. Each week a different mod will post a "Did you know" thread. For the first week, I have chosen the quote feature.
Did you know that there are two different ways to quote part or all of a previous post: 1. Quote the post with header which shows the original poster's name If you quote the entire thread, by clicking on the quote button on the person's message (next to the report and delete buttons) then it puts a header with the person's name above the quote. I usually try to quote the thread and then delete the part that I don't want to quote so that it puts the header with the original poster's name. As shown here: 2. Quote thread without showing person's name If you use the quote button when you are typing your message (next to http, img, quote, code, list buttons), and then copy and paste the part of the thread you want to quote, it will not show the header. This is useful when you want to quote more than one person in the same post. As shown here: I hope this helps. -------------------- |

thanks for the info DeeDee!
I just wanted to add... when you are quoting someone who has posted single or multiple pictures using the [IMG] feature (see other thread), please delete the tags so that the pictures do not appear in your quote. let's be kind to those who have slower connections. below is a picture of the tags that should be removed from the quote box... |
