YAAYYYY I FOUND THE TEEN BOARD !! I'll be haunting this site regularly now biggrin.gif

I'm Cindy, mother to 16 and 14 yr old daughters, and a 10 year old son.

Oh man...what a crazy world we're entering...the revolving door of boyfriends, the phones permanently attached to the ears, the social butterfly life, and the little brother old enough now to be in the middle of everything and anything...and Driving, did I mention DRIVING!??

Thanks in advance to all who provide advice !

I have a 17 1/2 year old son - what a job. Good kid with A's in school but doesn't use his brains when it comes to sex. (he has 2 children). He is still planning on college in NC - thank goodness. He plays guitar and is starting on a bowling league tonight. And yes driving vehicles and us crazy. LOL

I thought I posted here but I guess not!

My oldest from my prev marriage just turned 13 last month. He's moody (like I used to be) and refuses to get good grades. Yet he wants all the luxuries of teen life like a cell phone, DVD player, CD player, video games...AUGH!!!!!!!!!!

Boy, can I ever relate, even though mine is a girl and almost 16! Moody, and refuses to get good grades... her French teacher even offered to let her write an extra assignment over a weekend so she could get her grade up from a 55. No dice. And, she always wants wants wants... I can never keep up. Right now the "I Want List" includes (last time I checked) a PSP (already has the last two versions of game boy advance), PS3 (already has number two), Ipod Mini (already has a minidisc player and mp3 player), cell phone, and new motherboard and graphics card for her computer, so she can play the fancy new game she has (which she currently uses my Mac to play). Oh yes, and a monthly subscription to play the aforementioned game online. She didn't tell me before she got the game, that it required a subscription. wacko.gif

Good luck with your son. You'll find things get worse before they get better, I'm afraid. bawling.gif

Hi,

We live in the UK with one 15 yr old daughter. Addicted to MSN, not keen on homework etc. My wife works in a school and has threatened to make her write a paper this Summer if she doesn't reduce her MSN time. lol

I have a 15 year old son. He is a pretty good kid, we have home schooled the last several years so we haven't had the typical problems. He is still fairly innocent and is close to his parents which will help him in the long run. It has just been in the last few months that he has discovered chatting on the computer and girls have started to show up at our house. I worry because one I know in particular is promiscuous so we have a lot of talks about sex with our son and the consequences. His 14 year old cousin here, is also 3 months pregnant so that has also prompted a lot of discussion. She was also a good kid, cheerleader, good grades and so forth but her parents recently divorced and she was left home a lot, by herself. Apprently her 16 year old boyfriend was showing up when no one was home and "making himself at home." Teen pregnancy is a big problem in this area too. I have a friend who's son was also a father at 16.
Our son wants to go to public school this fall and we are going to give it a shot. My hope is that he is grounded enough with our relationship that he will talk to us before he gets into a sexual situation. The girls here are really pushy which concerns me. They seem to feel it is the way to be popular and be loved and accepted. They just don't realize what is will cost them down the line.
