Is anyone else REALLY frustrated with how unpredictable their cycles are after having kids? Or maybe it's just because I'm getting older... but I wish it would just pick a pattern and stay with it! Just when I think I'm getting it figured out it changes again! Awhile back.. maybe a year ago, I started having pain in my side and cramps when I ovulated, and sometimes I'd get achy all over too like I had a fever - all that was not really fun but kind of handy because it was nice knowing exactly what day it happened and when to expect my period since it isn't always regular. And my period would be super heavy the first day, then normal for about 5 days after that. Now I get achy, lightheaded, and nauseous around the time I'm ovulating, but the pain in one side is gone so I have to pay close attention to the c/m to determine when I ovulate, and sometimes it's easy to tell and other times there isn't as much as normal so I can't tell. Then I'm stuck not really knowing when AF is coming and have to wear a panty liner for days just in case. And now my period isn't quite as heavy in the beginning (I think it's because I've been exercising and losing weight) so that's good, but it goes for 2 or 3 days and then stops. And then comes back. And then stops again. And then comes back again. And I don't mean just spotting, I mean it will be completely gone for a whole day and then come back full force for a few hours or for a whole day or night, and then stop again for a few hours or a day. It is so frustrating!
Another thing that's changed - a year or 2 ago I started getting migraines 3 days before af, that lasted until af started. A few months ago that changed to a migraine the day before I got af, and it would go away after af started. Today I got my period and the migraine on the same day, and this time af started first and I got the headache a few hours later. It hasn't gone away yet but I'm hoping it will be gone by tomorrow morning. One day is definitely better than 3 days, but I'd sure like it if the migraines just stopped completely! -------------------- |

Wow Sarah, that sounds very aggravating! I can't help though, I have an IUD and it's the best decision I've ever made! Although I don't know when AF will come, she's only here for like 1 day...seriously...and super light. Dont' hate me!
But since I don't know when she's coming, the week before when I'm super mean to my family, they all want to kill me and it's only week later before we realize why! POOR DH! -------------------- Naomi, Wife to Tim & Mommy to Thomas (7) and Andrew (2)

I get a migraine after every period..it stinks. I havent had consistency since Mya was born..i miss it.
I wonder if there is a natural way to regulate...I think the exercise is a huge part of this as well. body changes = cycle changes. -------------------- Mya 7-1-00 |

I wish!!! I mean it might help some but it does nothing for my cycle, it does help with cramps though. Mine has been crazy ever since I had Autumn... very upredictable, painful, LONG and heavy.. SO annoying! -------------------- |

Are you truly having migraines or are they just really bad headaches? Big difference between them, I have migraines at least twice a week and I have a headache every day

So I'm not the only one! I wonder why our bodies don't return to normal after a few years.
For me, eating healthier and exercising does seem to help with the intensity of cramps and make it a little more regular, but my cycle is never always the same number of days anymore and before kids it was always 28 days - unless I was on a diet and then it would be 21 days for some reason. The changing of symptoms is what always bothers me the most... just when I get used to them they change and I don't know what's going on. -------------------- |

Definitely migraines. I've been getting them since childhood, but I don't get them nearly as often as I used to. I used to get them 3 or 4 days out of the week and often had a *regular* headache on the days I didn't have a migraine. Now, unless I'm dealing with a lot of stress, I usually only get a migraine around the time I get AF, but I get plain old headaches pretty often - usually from fatigue or if I'm trying to cut out caffeine. -------------------- |
