Hi ladies,

Its been so long since I posted a question..... but I have been wondering

My doc perscribed me seasonique, the birth control pills that you take for 3 months without a period, because I was getting menstral migranes and he said maybe without a period I won't get the headaches. I tried it for 2 cycles, 6 months, and I don't like them. I have tons of breakthrough bleeding . and even though it says that your period should be the same as it was- mine is much heavier.

I decided to go back to the regular- othro tri cyclen lo, once a month period, but I was wondering what are your thoughts on the 3 month cycles? anyone had success with that type of pill?

Here's my thoughts and I consider myself more of someone who likes to go with the LEAST amount of pills possible. I even went to a compounding pharmacist trying to find all the healthiest ways to stay off of BCP but yet deal with ovarian cysts etc which is why I was on them to begin with. Nothing he gave me worked and I suffered an entire year trying to get things right so I wouldn't have to take BCP. I also have taken just about every BCP out there to deal with the many menstrual crap I have, including massive migraines that plague me for the week before my period and the week of, so two weeks out of every month. So my doctor begged me to try Seasonique. I know, in my mind, that your body is supposed to have a period monthly. It's the only natural thing possible. BUT I had to decide on doing what was natural, what my body was intended to do or have some quality of life because lets face it suffering severe migraines two weeks out of every month is NOT any quality of life at all. It was the second pill pack before I really started noticing it working. Now I only suffer migraines the week of my period, so one week every THREE months. MUCH MUCH better!!!!!! I also have a much better period, much lighter, much easier to deal with and the PMS is much better. It's not 100%, but my quality of life is definitely much better. I also tried the generic form - Seasonal and it didn't' work for me. It had more estrogen in it than the Seasonique. I am severely estrogen dominant so I needed a pill that was less estrogen, which the seasonique is.

Those are my thoughts tongue.gif I know it's not RIGHT to be on a pill like this, but unfortunately to have any quality of life that is for not only myself, but my family, I had to make that choice. I know I'll probably suffer to consequences of it someday, though. I'm going to suffer many consequences anyways because every woman on my moms side has had ovarian cysts, severe migraines, severe fibroids, uterine cancer, their uterus taken out, and breast cancer....... rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif No joke. My mom is the only one to not have had breast cancer yet or her uterus taken out, everything else she's had and my grandmother, great grandmother, and aunts have had it all. sad.gif
