I feel bad, but I'm really dreading breastfeeding. I had so many struggles nursing Andrew, with my constant battle with thrush for over 8 months, and then mastitis twice, and all the latching problems we had in the beginning, the engorgement, the MESS with milk spraying everywhere every time I tried to feed him for 2 months before my milk regulated rolleyes.gif... the list goes on. I feel like this is something I should be looking forward to doing when Allie comes but I'm really not. I'm going to do it, I just hope that it turns out better this time and I will actually enjoy it. I'm hoping that I won't have the latching issues this time since the reason we had trouble with that was my flat nipples ~ nursing Roo for a year seemed to take care of that. rolleyes.gif (sorry tmi!) I've had a seven month break - Andrew quit nursing on our camping trip a week after his first birthday in June - but it doesn't seem like enough. I feel really guilty for feeling this way. sleep.gif

hug.gif I had a lot of the same feelings with Macie; after the twins we weren't planning on having any more so I was feeling pretty celebratory that I'd never have to bf again.

I'm sure it will be better this time around, you'll be calmer and you have some experience under your belt and lots of suport here! hug.gif

I found it MUCH easier the second time around. I knew what I was doing, I knew how to handle issues that came up. You will be better able to recognize plugged ducts, engorgement, early onsets of thrush etc. I hope this is an easy experience for you.

Hopefully it will be easier this time. And, like Brenda said, you already know what you are doing. But, I completely understand about wanting your body back for just yourself a bit longer. hug.gif Try to think positive...this time WILL be better.

maybe if you dont put pressure on yourself, and just say, you will take it one day at a time and see how it goes..
good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Thanks everyone. I need to start thinking positive about it. Right now I've got kind of an "I'm going to do it because I have to, but I'm not going to like it" kind of attitude about it. rolleyes.gif I'm sure it will be better this time - I hope it will be a lot better and I'll enjoy it more. wub.gif I did have times when I enjoyed BF'ing Andrew, but the times that I was sick of the pain and struggle and just wanted to quit outnumbered the good times. I stuck to my goal of one year, but I think I would have gone longer if it hadn't been so hard the first 9 months.

You really do have to have a positive attitude, but you also have to know that you could have other issues than you had with Roo. I know I dreaded going back to BF, but for other reasons, not necessarily because of ALL the problems Kylie and I had, but the sleepless nights, nursing every 2 hours 24/7, etc. happy.gif rolleyes.gif The one problem I did dread having w/Megan was having to use the nipple shield. I had to use that for 9 months w/Kylie and I didn't want to even see that thing at all with Megan....BUT I had to use it 4 months with her too. rolleyes.gif Megan and I had our fair share of BF problems as well but I was older, wiser, and more confident to handle them in a more calm fashion. I knew all the stuff I had gone through before, I knew what to expect. All these things made it easier to handle any problem that came my way the second time. It also made it easier to handle new problems that would arise as well.
