I'm borrowing this dress from my sister to wear to DH's company holiday party. I buy a new dress almost every year for this party, but I really am tired of spending the money. But I also don't want to wear something I already own.
So my sis sent me this pic today...But I'm not sure how to dress it up. It's black chiffon, a-line. The venue is fairly fancy, but DH works in the development industry and the guys he works with seem to be on the casual side regardless. And the wives never dress up too much. But I think the dress needs something. I wasn't sure if I could wear a necklace with this type top. It usually snows during the party, so I have to go from car to the ballroom. Should I wear a pashmina? If so, what color? Hair up or down? Black heels or bronzy strappy heels? HELP. Attached Image |

I say hair down stud earrings , no neck, Major wrist bling!
bring a wrap in any color really but a nice shimmery fusha would look amazing on you. and black shoes. -------------------- Mya 7-1-00 |

No necklace, dangly earrings, hair loosely up, definitely NOT black shoes- go with metallic. Any color shawl would work with black.

I have a fuscia pashmina tht I rarely wear, so I'll try it. But it's HOT pink. I'm not always sure why I bought it but it does look cool with black. I also have red. My sister said no necklace, big gold hoop earrings, gold strappy shoes or black peep toes, both of which I don't have right now. Ugh. I have heels in bronze (metallic), gold snakeskiin type but with too much cream in them, and tons of black heels, but all are closed toe pump pointy toe style. I wish I liked to shop like some of you! Thanks all...keep the ideas coming! -------------------- Rae SAHM to Wil (4) and Wesley (2) ~ Wife to Richard 10/20/01

Thanks everyone! I'm going to do loose hair (not sure if up or down, but big waves), dangly earrings, maybe a big bangle bracelet or something with bling, and metallic shoes. No necklace. Maybe my deep red pashmina. Now let's just hope the dress fits, especially after T-giving, and that my sister remembered to give it to my mom (who is flying in today). If not, I did see a ton of beautiful dresses in the Banana Republic window last night........
