What toothpaste do you use for you little one. I know kids can get picky. Anyone heard about ProNamel for Children? It's from the makers of Sensodyne Toothpaste.

We use just a small amount of almost any toothpaste. Some are too "Spicy" (according to my daughter), so we switch if that's the case.

We've discovered "Cha Cha Chocolate" from Circle of Friends website tongue.gif One her buddies brought it to a sleepover and that was all she wrote~it's chocolate~need I say more. Personally, I think it's disgusting (she doesn't get her chocoholic tendancies from me) but my kid will brush for an hour with that stuff.

I have been reading labels lately, and you'd be surprised how many kid's toothpaste have sugar in them. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? But Ashley won't use any of the "spicey" toothpaste either (Ashley calls it spicey too..LOL).

It's my understanding that sugar in and of itself is not the culprit in decay, it's sticky stuff~gummi bears, suckers, licorice, etc that actually adheres to the enamel and foods that promote plaque. I checked the Cha Cha Chocolate label and it lists sorbitol as one of the inactive ingredients. My Crest Pro Health and Aquafresh list it as well also under inactive ingredients. My guess it's to promote a pallitable taste. I'll ask my dentist about it in July. thumb.gif

Ashley's toothpaste has it as well. She won't use regular toothpaste, so we use a strawberry flavored fluoride toothpaste.

Forgot to add that Olivia LOVES the tinting rinse by Listerine. It tints your teeth before you brush (hers is blue) and then you brush till all the color comes off your teeth. Same principle as those nasty red tablets we used to chew in school on dentist day.

BTW, This is what happens when you send men to the store~they come back with Captain Crunch cereal and tinting rinse! laugh.gif

Just a smaller amount of what we use. We usually use Colgate.

Oh, the irony rolling_smile.gif

We've used the tinting rinse too, it really helped my kids understand it's not good enough to just swipe the brush a time or two. We've also used the Pronamel and it was fine. Mine aren't picky. Mostly though we use the flouride toothpaste from the dentist because Macie is prone to problems with her teeth so I just have them all use it as an extra precaution.

my dentist I had growing up never used toothpaste. She believes that as long as you use a wet toothbrush it will do the job. I never listened to her though and have always used toothpaste. I just put a tiny tiny bit of mine on my daughters tooth brush. Right now my son doesnt have teeth so I just wipe his gums with a cloth.
