Andrew just learned how to ride a bike without the training wheels! He has been asking us for a couple months to take them off, and we kept telling him he needed to wait until he was bigger. He's only 3 - well he'll be four next month. There was a bike the same size as Andrew's hanging up in the shed, and two days ago Andrew saw it and convinced Dh to help him ride it. He did really well from the start - all Dh had to do was help him get started, help him stop, and run along behind him in case he fell, but he didn't hold on to him. We thought that in itself was pretty amazing for his age and for his first try.
Dh showed him yesterday how to start by himself but he couldn't do it... then today Andrew went outside by himself and a little bit later came running back in all excited and told us that he'd ridden the bike all by himself, and then showed us how he could do it. thumb.gif It was so cute... my parents' driveway goes in a circle in front of the house, so he kept going out and getting on the bike, and then ride once around the circle and then come running in to tell us he'd done it all by himself again. wub.gif

Dh took a video of him riding, but I have no idea how to get the video onto the computer so I have to wait for him to do it for me. blush.gif I think he took a picture too but the card reader isn't plugged into the computer so I'll try to get it posted tomorrow. happy.gif

Andrew's cousin who is two years older than him (Andrew will be 4 in June and E will be 6 in July) is really afraid to ride without them ~ they were over last night and it was kind of funny to see the 3 year old riding the two-wheeler and the 5 year old with training wheels. But actually E is more the age we thought Andrew would be when he started learning. tongue.gif

Good Job!!

Mckaylee is 6 and we took her training wheels off and she wouldn't pedal long enough for us to let go.....Russell actually did a tad bit better, but not much.

Kylie was 5.5 when she learned to ride her two-wheel. Megan has yet to be interested in doing so.

WTG Andrew! That is young for him to learn to ride a two-wheel bike... but I bet he looks so cute! I can't wait to see the pics and/or video!
