My Brother & GF Lost their Baby!, Very Sad & Graphic!!!

Big Brother! Group: Members Posts: 1,088 Member No.: 125 Joined: 13-April 03	My brother and his girlfriend from FL were due to have a baby the end of this month. I was planning a baby shower and all for the middle of June. Well, at the end of May, they found out their was a problem with the baby. Apparently, he had too much brain fluid, so his brain could not develop properly. They had to make a tough decision together. Either they could carry the baby to term, but the chances of the baby making it till Sept in utero were very slim, or they could induce labor as soon as possible and just not do any measures to revive the baby when he was born. The dr. told them that if the baby did survive until Sept and made it through the delivery, he would have to be institutialized for his entire life. They decided that they would deliver the baby as soon as possible to not cause any more pain for either of them. My brother's gf went into the hospital on May 31 and Michael Steven was born on June 1, 2006. He was already passed on when he was delivered. The dr. has no idea when he actually passed on b/c they did not have monitors on him due to the situation that would occur. The dr. feels that when he entered the birth canal, there was such an extreme amount of brain fluid that his brain actually got crushed from the pressure. My dad was able to be their to see and hold his grandson too. I went down the following day for the memorial service, they had him cremated and are going to spread his ashes in a memorial garden by their church. Obviously, this has taken a toll on their relationship, but they are trying to work it out.
