I'm seriously thinking Isabelle may be an only child.

I'm sure I'm exaggerating, but I swear if she's awake she's screaming. At least it feels that way. bawling.gif We bought some Colic Calm, and it helps. I thought first babies were suppose to be easy so you'd want more.

Honestly I'm sure it's not as bad as I make it out to be. She barely cried at all yesterday. Happy all day. Mostly starts around 8pm. Sometimes I can get her to stop fairly quickly. Sometimes we see the wee hours of the morning before she stops.

Its just frustrating. I feel like I'm doing something wrong. bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif It will get easier, I promise. Have you talked to her ped about possible solutions? I can't remember if you're breastfeeding or not - I know if you are breastfeeding she could be getting gassy or an upset tummy from certain foods you eat, and if you're not, switching formulas could help.

Yeah breast feeding. I guess I don't know what to eat though. I'm not eating stuff that makes ME gassy. Ped said if the colic calm works then use it.

I know I don't have it as bad as some. I just wanted our short time while I'm home to be great. Not w/both of us frustrated. sleep.gif

Oh do I remember that feeling. Especially with Megan as she was such a sickly baby and the 4 months I had off with her went so fast and felt like all we did was struggle through it together.

Are you drinking a lot of milk? Some babies have a problem with lactose passed through BM.

ITA. Al had a really hard time tolerating my milk if i had any diary at all. Once I cut that out of my diet she was like night and day.

you are doing fine. it is totally expected to have high and low days. You are in the middle of a HUGE life adjustment, and these kids don't come with instruction manuals. hug.gif hug.gif

I have to say that milk was a big deal for Jakob too, and things I never thought about, I used to make a pot roast and added onion soup mix, but didnt eat onions, so it never occured to me it upset his belly..
maybe try to write down for a day what you eat and see what happens..
you are doing a great job, and it isnt you...

It could be the dairy your eating. Babies sometimes cant handle the cow protien in milk. try cutting it out and see if it helps. Breanna was colicky. she was for almost 3 months. she just recently stopped. taking her off cows formula helped and she has been on soy ever since. Infacol drops is another thing that has been a life saver for us. im nto sure if they sell it in the states but man it works! It may seem long but if it colick then it will calm down at around 3-4 months of age. We have been lucky with breanna she was colicky and miserbale from 7am until 10pm then she slept through the night no problems. And now she sleeps 12 hour spans!

It WILL get better!! I promise! hug.gif

Definitely pay close attention to what you're eating, maybe even write it down, with the time you ate/drank it, and write down if/when/how long she gets fussy... maybe you'll see correlation within a day or two.

Also, make sure she's not getting overstimulated... I know my nephew had a hard time and would just scream himself to sleep if he was overly tired or overstimulated.
If you haven't, I suggest checking out the Baby Whisperer book and/or website. It made a huge difference for me.

If you want to talk about it (the crying or baby whispering thing) PM me... I'll check back shortly.

I was having a similar conversation with a guy at work, their 5 month old is giving them some crying and sleep trouble - this too shall pass and it does VERY quickly. The first few months are very difficult.....then it all just falls into place.

Jack had colic and he did get over it about 4 months old.......she will too.

I know it is hard, we all have been there. We have all felt this way. But obviously it doesn't last because we do go on to have more children........Being a first time parent was the hardest thing I ever did, much easier the second time around, I am sure most of us on here would agree.

Hang in there girl, you are doing great and before you know it you will be longing for hte "baby stage"

I had the same feelings of having an only child. My first wasn't colic, but she was sick very often starting with rsv at 2 months old. So with illness, there were a lot of tears. But she eventually got well and stayed well and has been a wonderful child since. I cannot wait to have number 2! smile.gif

It will pass, like everyone says. hug.gif hug.gif
