Hi all! I am sorry it took so long to get me to post here, but i have been super busy with a refluxy baby, and trying to look for work...
any how...
since day one i have been pumping and feeding the baby. Lately i noticed my let downs have gotten really bad. the pain burns through my whole breast and hurts all the way to my back sometimes. then I noticed Braelynn has thrush. UGH. So I called the Pedi, and they put her on Nystatin. No biggie, right? Wrong. Turns out, I am continually giving her back the thrush by feeding her my milk, which seems to be loaded with the yeast, because I have infected breasts and nipples. I didnt even know this was possible. I had to go see my OBGYN to get a perscription for diflucan, and they gave me 2 doses, one 3 days ago, and one i have to take tomorrow "just to be sure" we get it all. They say it is expressed in the breast milk, but it will be ok, since she has the thrush, and its such a low dose it wont hurt her. I breast fed with both my boys for a few months and quit when I couldnt handle the pain in my nipples back then. I just never got used to it. I never have pain when i pump, but the pain from the nursing was killing me. I dealt with lactation people and was told nothing should hurt, i was doing it right.. blah blah blah... but oh did it hurt. SO thats why I chose to only pump this time. But this thrush thing is killing me. I cant figure out how I got it, because I dont have a yeast inf anywhere else, so if it were from the anti-biotics after my section, wouldnt i have it everywhere? ugh. just thought i would share my experience, dont really need advice. I just wanted to let people know what i am dealing with, incase they have any of these problems too. I never knew you could have yeast on your nipples like I have, and noticed it there, thinking it was just dried milk.
sorry if i am giving too much info, but if i had read something like this before when the pain started 3 weeks ago, i could have treated this faster, and poor Braelynn wouldnt have such a bad case of thrush.

Oh yes, thrush on the nips is super common. I am still battling it and I weaned Nora about a month ago. dry.gif

Go to Kellymom.com for tons of info on the protocol to get rid of it. There are a lot of things you should be doing to make sure you aren't reinfecting eachother every time.

Sorry. It really sucks!! hug.gif
