But why would anyone hire a guy in his 20s to babysit a 2 year old girl? Doesn't that seem weird in itself? Not that I'm blaming the parents, certainly not, but I can't imagine I'd hire even the most seemingly qualified teenage or 20 something male to care for a little girl, I would think it's an odd job for such a person to seek.

Yes it may seem wierd fro a male to babysit... But there are men out there that would do a good job and be wonderful to the kids. I think with everything that is going on out there and has happened alot would not accept a male sitter. I dont know what i would do honestly. Marcus is wonderful with teh dayhome kids and such so he would be good at it.... but again im not sure... But isnt it sad that we have to think twice about a male sitter because of the world today. Its scarey and sad!

that needs to carry a minimum of 30 years not maximum. As for everything else, the parents should have checked him out thoroughly before hiring anyone.

I babysat kids when I was a teenager.... wasn't my favorite thing to do but it was a few extra $$.. And Keian's current therapist is a male.

That being said, I would be hesitant hiring a male babysitter to watch Chloe.

We just had that today - I called a family to see if their daughter could babysit and she is not available but her brother is and the mom said he's a better sitter anyway. Now my son would love that, but he won't be home for part of the time because of a soccer game and that leaves Erin alone with him. So I said no and I am staying home with them. It's sad to say but true - as far as we know he is a great kid but there's just that fear . . .

You know... the sad but simple truth is that there are a lot of us who would never trust a male (not related) to babysit our children.

It does make a difference. Males commit something like 95% of the violent crimes (forgive my lack of reference here). However, your point is taken, one bad female babysitter can do unforgivable things too.

I really don't think I could hire a male that I didn't truly KNOW. I don't even let my brother babysit

My brother in law has babysat my children on a few occasions - so has my father in law, my father and once, in an emergency, a good friend (male) of my husbands. For me it's not that I wouldn't let a man babysit my children - it's that I wouldn't let anyone I didn't know and trust babysit my children, male or female.

That's awful! That poor little girl, I hope they get consolling for her!

I'm sorry but no one keeps my kids that isn't family - male or female because of stuff like this. The world is sad and I'll never take my chances. My kids are only allowed over grandparents houses, my cousin's house, and one good friend of ours who has literally kept them one time overnight, it's a female though and she had to call us in the middle of the night to come get them because Aubrey was so sick...I'm very leary. No one that I don't know will ever keep my kids.

Yeah I agree I wouldn't hire JUST anyone. My BIL has babysat and taken Alyssa along with my niece and nephew to the movies, the zoo ect and my FIL babysits ALL the time!!
