I talked to my Dr today about allergiy medications that I can take while Nursing. He said that Nasonex would be okay to take, becuase anything I would take would be transfered in trace ammounts anyway, and I would be so miserable with out my meds.
well, cool! Okay, so I told him that I AM miserable and really looking foward to a time when I can take my meds. He said that he had no problem with me taking it NOW. well, the package insert for the nasonex says not to take it durring pregnancy becuase it can cause birth defects. But, since I am past 12 weeks when organogenesis occurs, I should be past the stage when birth deffects would occur. so here is the question, would you take the med or not? |

I would probably wait until I couldn't function properly without the meds and since you are close to delivery I would take em.

I am pretty miserable. i haven't been able to really breath through my nose or taste my food in over 8 months! The thought of a light at the end of the tunnel is sooooo tempting, but I really want to do what is best for Baby girl ya know?

I totally understand, I would still probably take a little to try and relieve the symptoms so you could breath and taste your food, but just as much as needed and stretch the doses out.

I think if your doc said it was okay, I would do it. You're so close to your due date, so I don't think it would harm the baby at this point, but that's just me. Plus, all meds will have that warning on the box for their own safety. Give yourself a break sweetie!

i probably wouldn't but i am not suffering.. you are. if your doc says ok and you are still unsure, talk to the pharmacist for their opinion. they know better than most docs on stuff like that hope you feel better soon.

Considering I had the mother of all allergy attacks today (and won't take anything cause I am still in the I don't know stage as far as whether or not this is a successful pregnancy) I know how you are suffering so at your stage, I would say it would be safe to take the medicine, but to be sure, I would also call the pharmacist.....

I was thinking about that. also about asking a pharmasist. I don't really know who I would call about a 2nd opionion, I trust my OB more than my Family pratice doc, and my OB had no partners. DH says I should go for it, I guess he is sick of listening to me mouth breath and snore at night. He thinks I will sleep better, which is something that I never thought about! sleep! woudn't THAT be nice?! He also brough up the point that if some mothers can use crack and have healthy babies than my taking a regular does of a perscription med should be fine. I guess I know where HE stands on the subject! |

I'm leaning toward listening to your doc, but I would seek another opinion, especially since you're so unsure.

If my doc gave me the okay, I'd go for it, especially if I was miserable.

Well, i ended up taking the meds. but it has been 2 days already and I haven't seen a change. Granted, it IS a steroid, so it could take a while. I decided that I will keep it up for a few more days, and if I don't see a drastic change I will quit until this kid is born!
