Insurance covering cost of breast pumps?

Mmmm. Ice cream! Group: Moderators Posts: 11,773 Member No.: 69 Joined: 31-March 03	My sister was told by someone to check with her health ins. company to see if they would cover the cost of a breast pump. I know that most will cover it if a doctor says you NEED it, like if baby was born early, etc. Megan was born early and had trouble latching at first but my doc wasn't going to help me out anyways. Chances are that the insurance company covering you, will also be covering your baby. They'd probably save money in the long run if they did cover pumps. Kind of along the same lines of insurance companies paying for smoking cessation classes. -------------------- Cary

WE have to have teh Dr call and sa it's medically necessary though. Basically they call and say that I need to be able ot feed my child when I am not with them and therefore it is necessary that I have a breast pump to do it. We're in teh process of waiting of the approval letter to get Graham's. (We had one through WIC with kathleen but don't qualify anymore so we're just gonna have teh insurance buy us one) --------------------
