Our entire family is singing in a Cantata tonight and I'm so excited for Olivia to get to sing with a full blown orchestra for the first time!! She has no idea how blown away she'll be by the whole experience! Yes, we are music nerds!! LOL! Guess it's our version of sports! I didn't get to do this until I was 14 and sang Handel's Messiah for the first time. I'm so glad these opportunities are open to her earlier! (even though the director let her in because, based on her vocal quality, he thought she was a 6th grader~LOL!)

Thanks for the wishes. It went great and the church was packed to the rafters (about 1500). A cantata is music wrapped with spoken interlude. It can be very moving. I really like this composer (Pepper Choplin) his style and take on the events leading up to the crucifixion and resurrection are beautiful. I love it when music moves people to tears and alot of people were last night.
It was a piece of time I'll never forget~standing on the risers next to my daughter and hearing her beautiful voice in my ear! It was alot of rehearsal (every Sunday since January) and we always sing in a mixed part arrangement meaning you only stand by one other person singing your part. You have to be a pretty secure in your part to sing that way. She did a fantastic job. I'm not sure at 9 I was accomplished enough to do that. OK, done with my big fat mommy brag!! -------------------- Cheryl, Olivia's mom
