I am so nervous to be a mother to a baby boy. Don't get me wrong, I am so excited, this is a huge blessing! Yet, another part of me is really nervous. I don't know what to do with a boy. I have two girls and spent most of my life around girls. My dad wasn't even in the home. The most males I have been around were my cats. tongue.gif

I have been having a lot of thoughts like can I nurse a baby boy? I had issues with nursing my 1st daughter and did not start until I had my 2nd daughter, so now I wonder if it is different nursing a boy. Another thought I have is will a boy bond with me as much as my girls did and still do? What are certain things I need to know to care for a boy versus a girl? I feel bad admitting some of these thoughts. Are they normal thoughts or am I a bad mommy already? bawling.gif

I think they are normal thoughts. I grew up with a sister - my sister has three girls. I have mostly girl cousins, so when I discovered I was going to have a boy, I was freaked too. Thrilled, because it was exciting to have the first boy in our family, but I had some of the same questions you had.

As far as nursing, there is no difference between nursing boy or girl. Of course I have nothing to compare, but it just seems the case IMO. Also, I have found that as infants, boys and girls are about equal. They do the same things - poop, eat, sleep. In the toddler years, it changes some. Their interests are different, but for the most part, they are still the same. The bonding experience will be the same as you had with your daughters, I suspect. You love your children equally no matter what, girl or boy. Just wait until he comes out. You will find instant love, just wait!!

Thank you for the reassurance! I am very excited to have a boy. I just hope I can be a good mommy to him too without having boy experience. lol rolling_smile.gif

You sound like me when we found out I was having a girl!!!!!

Give it about 2 seconds after he is born - it's all good!
