Create Your Own "Car Seat ID Card"

In the event of an automobile accident that incapacitates the adult driver and passengers, emergency rescue personnel will have a difficult time identifying infants and young children riding in car safety seats. In some situations, the adults in the car may not even be related to the child (ie: the babysitter); therefore, normal means of obtaining information will be useless.

You can print your own copy or just hand write something on a piece of paper, cover it in adhesive plastic or put it in a zip-lock baggy, and safety pin it to the seat. Why? Because in a crash, you want emergency workers to know who to contact in case you are unconscious or are not even there to advocate for your child.

Your baby's car seat ID should include:
Baby's name and Date of birth
Parents names & phone numbers
Emergency contact names & phone numbers
Pediatrician's name and phone number
Baby's allergies and Baby's medical condition

Note: So that just anyone who happens to be passing by your parked car cannot see your phone numbers, we suggest you pin this card backwards on the car seat and write on the exposed side that the "Child's emergency info is on the back side".
