I have been doing so well with my anxiety and feeling generally good most of the time. I evenwent to a gastro doc, and he ran some tests ahich I haven't gottn back yet, but my stomch hasn't really been bothering me much. I have been taking my anxiety meds, and seeing my therapist.
Tonight at dinner, Jason was eating then all of a sudden I saw panic on his face and he started crying saying "my throat" he started coughing, and I can see his eyes are watering, and he is getting really upset. I ran him to the bathroom and he proceedes to vomit choke and gag. He was so scared, I started having a panic attack immediately. I could feel the adreniline (hot flash) and my stomach started acting up and I started crying. I couldn't get a hold of my DH because he was on the commuter bus and his phone wasn't getting service....I called my dad and he helped me calm down and told me what to do for Jason. even now, Jason seems fine...maybe he choked on a piece of pasta, and thats it, but you all know my anxiety starts with my kids and the fear of them getting sick, especially stomach viruses becasue Jason was hospitalized when he was 18 months for that nasty rotavirus. Even though he seems fine, I still feel so nervous. send sone calming vibes please!!! -------------------- ~*~*~*~Edie, Jason 9/23/02, and Emma 11/19/06~*~*~*~

Oh Edie...of course that would trigger your anxiety, don't be too hard on yourself. Make sure you have plenty of people on your call list for those times---any of us would be more than happy to talk with you. Jason is fine. Hugs to both of you!!!

That would have scared me too. I am no good in those situations... anxiety or not. I agree, don't be so hard on yourself.
But, Jason is fine... he is ok. Try not to dwell on what happened. I know, easier said than done. Do you know what was working so well for you before. You were able to get it under control before and have good days, so you know you can do it again. YOu can add me to your call list too. Let us know what the gastro doc says. -------------------- |

Hang in there. The fact that they are getting fewer and farther between is a sign that the therapy and meds are doing their jobs.

I think it's a sign of progress that your anxiety in this case was provoked by a real event---the kind of event many moms would panic about. I'm glad Jason is in top form today!

Hi Edie-
I'm running a little late right now- but I promise to pm you when I return later this afternoon. I agree that it's a good sign that your anxiety is triggered by a real life stressor rather than some internal chaos in your head. My mom used to freak out like that everytime one of us would have a medical incident- and she did not have an anxiety disorder- it's a pretty normal reaction for a mom to have. But if your anxiety level doesn't come back down after the "crisis" has subsided, then you know it's your disorder talking. I'll check in again later today. In the meantime, -------------------- Jeanne

Sounds like you had a great plan & you followed it quickly and well. Were you able to regain control after your dad got there? -------------------- Cheryl, Olivia's mom

I agree with everyone. Aiden started choking the other day on something he had put in his mouth that was not food and I about gave him the hemlick(I dont think that is spelled right, I know it is not spelled right.) I hope you are feeling better.
