Whats the origin and meaning of your kids names?
Emily Kate- Emily is Latin and means 'rival, emulating'. Kate is Greek and means 'pure'. Odessa Jean - Odessa doesn't really have an origin or meaning. Well, I suppose it's origin is Ukrainian because the name is 'from the name of a Ukrainian city which sits on the north coast of the Black Sea'. Jean is Hebrew and means 'God is Gracious'. Aysun Aleisha - Aysun is Turkish and means 'beautiful as the moon'. Aleisha is Old German and means 'noble, exalted nature'. -------------------- Nina, Mama to Emily Kate, Odessa Jean & Aysun Aleisha.

I used to know what the origins were... but they had no impact on why I chose their names.

Annika is Scandinavian for Gracious
Lily is Latin for Blossoming Flower My great great grandmother was from Sweden and my grandmother's name is Ann. So I was looking for something to combine the two without the common Ann name. Lily was Shawn's great grandmother's name. -------------------- Holley~ Loving wife to Shawn, (03/22/03), stepmom to Brandon (5/23/88), mom to Annika Lily (12/28/05).

They dont impact my choice on weather to use the name or not but here are the meanings:
Lexi: Defending men and its greek Raygen: Anglicized form of the Irish surname Ó Ríagáin ("descendent of Riagán"). The meaning is uncertain. It is likely to be related to rí and thus means "like a king", or it may come from ríogach and mean "impulsive". |

'Raina' is Spanish and means peaceful queen. 'Rane' is Hindi and also means queen and then 'Jazmine' is Persian and means flower. so altogether her name would mean 'peaceful queen of the flowers' lol! fitting since she wants to be a florist when she grows up.
'River' is American (or Rio in Spanish) and means well river or from the river. and 'James' is Hebrew and means supplanter. so his name would mean 'river supplanter'. 'Romma' is Roman Italian and means from Rome. 'Reese is Welsh and mean firery or enthusiastic and 'Jade' is Spanish and mean jewel. so her's would mean roman fiery jewel. all their names seem to fit them perfectly. Lance is of French origin. From Lanzo (Old German) "land"; nickname of Lancelot Lawrence is of Latin origin, and the meaning of Lawrence is "from Laurentum" |
