My son is nearly 13 weeks old now and I exclusively breastfed him for the first 3 weeks, but I gave up due to his high demand and that I didn’t have the help and support I needed. My milk was still in when he was 4.5 weeks old so I tried him again but he refused the breast so after a week of trying, I quit again.
Then nearly 4 weeks ago, I decided to Re-lactate as there was no milk there. I started pumping every 1 ½-2 hours around the clock, but this proved a bit too much as I have 3 children under the age of 3 so I started pumping every 2-3 hours. After nearly 2 weeks, I was still only getting about 2-3 drops of milk from each breast and so I contacted an IBCLC at my local Birth Centre and told her I wanted to try Domperidone and so she wrote a letter to my GP explaining why I needed to be prescribed this and he did.
I have been taking it for about 2 weeks now and can get 1-2 oz per session. I pump every 2-3 hours in the day and 3-4 hours at night with my Avent Isis manual breastpump. It is doing the trick, but I wish things would go a bit quicker!
He still refuses the breast a lot, and so I have been using a nipple shield to help him adapt to the breast, while still supplementing him with formula in a bottle afterwards. He nearly empties my breasts at each session (when I get him on, sometimes he sleeps right through a session and so I have to pump), and I pump the last bits out at the end.
I am going to buy a Medela Mini Electric breastpump when I get the money. If there is anyone on here who has tried Re-lactating or has Re-lactated, please reply to this as I would like some help and advise from you.

Thank you so much for reading this message and I do hope to hear from you soon.

good luck

I don't know much about this, but I'd think you'd get better luck with an electric pump....maybe even the hospital one. Give a call to the hospital and see about renting one

Good for you.

Did want to add though, I was never able to much, even when I used an electric pump. It maybe be that your little one is able to empty it out much better. You will never be able to pump as much as feed.
