i went yesterday for a full medical exam. Talke dto the doctor about a tubal ligation. Tells me, sure, no problem, I'll refer you to a gyn for an initial consultaion.
So I get a phone call today... the appt. with the gyn is NOVEMBER 28th!!!!!!! WTF!!!! And THEN, the waiting list for the actual tubal is 3 - 9 MONTHS further!!! OMG. I wish I could just snip my dh myself. He's such a Chicken Sh!t!!!! -------------------- The richest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.

That sucks.
Are you guys short on doctors? That wait seems really long. It only takes a couple of days to get in to see a dr here (depending on what specialist you will see). If you are sick you can get in the same day. Of course there's usually 10 or more doctors in a 1 mile radius. |

Oh no, we can see doctors when we need to. It's for the special appointments that we have to wait. It's all in priority, not who can pay first.

That is one reason why I would never vote for that type of health care system It so stinks that you have to wait that long Maybe you can get the Dr to push for it faster -------------------- Wife to Ed (Redchief)

idk, I think a single payer system has more pluses than minuses, particularly if you happen to be un or under-insured. I am tired of hearing that the US healthcare system is "the best in the world". It should be amended to include... "for those that can afford it".
I'm sure it totally sucks to wait for an elective procedure, but it sucks even more to get cancer and to have to worry not only about your possible mortality, but also about whether the illness will destroy your family's economic well being as well. Your health shouldn't have a price tag on it, imo. We owe that to each other as civilized human beings. -------------------- Jeanne

I know what you are saying Rocky, BUT we got a good thing here IMO.

Yeah I'm glad we don't have to pay for all our medical stuff. I'd rather wait for it... but if i CAN pay for it, I should be allowed to. And - just fyi and a toot to our Canada's horn... we're more advanced, medically, in several areas, than the US. Hee hee! An example of that would be the Wavefront technology for laser eye surgery. Jen - they hardly ever do it to people my age... but since 1) i'm married, and 2) I already HAVE 3 kids... they will disregard the age. -------------------- The richest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything.

I agree with Jeanne. It is pretty bad here at times. Heck I forgot to schedule Em for her physical for preschool and the doc had a month and half waiting list. He is just a family doctor. I do think our health system is pathetic. I watched that show Michael Moore did and it scared the crap outta me. If anything major happens you could really lose everything. Doctors seem to give you the run around also. My mom is in some serious pain and none can figure out why. NOONE knows why? I have a hard time believing it. Maybe I just dont want to believe it.

Wavefront technology was developed by the United States Air Force to correct imperfections in satellite imagery caused by abnormalities in telescopic lenses. The technology was moved to Lasik in the 1990's by the Germans. So true, unfortunately. I have a good friend who works in a hospital and she said it's sickening the number of people who don't get lifesaving treatment or procedures b/c of lack of insurance, doctors there don't even diagnose properly b/c they diagnose according to what that particular persons insurance will cover. Even worse is the people who DO have insurance and still get screwed. |

hmmm a very scary thought thats why many ppl. dont take 1 Dr.s word and see what another says and get more testing done to see if that is going on. Anything serious 2nd opion and I never tell the Dr thats why I'm there -------------------- Wife to Ed (Redchief)
