I can't for the life of me figure this out...I'm fine all day, but around 8 every night I start itching like crazy, I mean CRAZY, to the point that any kind of lotion burns like the dickens and I'm just a scratchy mess. I use moisturizer every day, my skin doesn't look dry, haven't switched soaps or laundry stuff. Any ideas? I'm about to go out of my mind.

OMG i have been dealing with this forever now! Go see your dermatologist - I just did he told me I had scabies, didn't fix my itchiness, they put me on a steriod, didn't work now I'm waiting to see an allergist... Night time and showers are the worst! I feel your pain!

I was told this too!! mad.gif You know what my problem was? I was allergic to the Nighttime Baby lotion (the lavendar kind). If your "partner" that sleeps w/you every night is not itchy then it's NOT scabies!!

The stupid woman put me on some nasty lotion stuff that burned like the dickens and didn't do a darn thing! dry.gif All it made me do was have to wash everything I came in contact w/ and wear pants and a long sleeve shirt to bed.

Remember, scabies has distinct "tracks" and they can do skin scrapings and look for them under a microscope. (I did lots of research after I was "dignosed")

The lotion they Rx'd was super nurotoxic. Side effects were SEIZURES and stuff like that.

I love my FORMER doctors office...can't you tell? rolling_smile.gif

Could you be allergic to something in the house? Do you work outside of the house all day, but get itchy when you get home?

You have got to be allergic to something. Try tonight and see what it was you did right before you started itching. I dont know without going to the dr about it.

I'm home all day, it's so weird that it's only at night. I've started keeping a journal rolleyes.gif of everything from 5pm on to try to figure it out.

Like Sarah said, it's pretty bad after showers too but I thought it was b/c the water was too hot and making it worse. I've switched to hardly even warm showers dry.gif and no change.

I swear, between this and the restless legs I am a total psycho at night wacko.gif

Is your liver normal? Sometimes changes in the levels of your liver will cause itchiness at odd times.

As far as I know, my liver and kidneys are working fine. I don't know what hives actually look like, but once in awhile I get red splotchy areas when my legs are itching, it's not consistent and I'm not sure if it's from scratching or if it just shows up. I may have to just break down and see the dr, I haven't had an all around physical in a few years, maybe I need to just bite the bullet dry.gif

Monica there was an article in today's paper about itchiness could be and then they listed things I never knew could cause itchiness. Anyway, they were scary until they ended with it could be just dry skin. I agree that you should see the doctor.

Good Luck and let us know.

My skin is dryer/itchier when the furnace comes on.. and during this time of year it has only been coming on at night? Just a thought. It could be hives too... I used to get those ALOT. But, you hives get bumps before it starts itching.. at least mine did.

This is what I was thinking...HEAT. I get itchy under the covers because I'm too warm. Try wearing less clothes to bed, unless you already go naked...And maybe turn down your heater if you already have it on. I have terrible dry itchy skin, worse in the winter. I must lotion up right out of the shower, while I'm still wet, and I have a humidifer going at night. But the heat thing, shower too hot, jammies too hot, DH too hot, then I'm itchy. wink.gif

I've thought of that, except that I'm in my jeans and a long sleeved t and thinking of putting a sweatshirt on laugh.gif and I'm feeling the itching coming on.

We have hot water baseboard heat, which is moist heat so that got me stuck. Other than the whole thing of being too hot, I'll have to try to pay more attention. I'm always cold, even under the covers, but maybe I get warm as I'm dozing off and don't realize it because I'm so distracted by the itching.

It's really bizarre, usually it starts on my legs and it's almost like if I can distract myself, it's not so bad, but if I give in and scratch the slightest bit, my whole body is suddenly itching like mad. Right now it's starting on my back and shoulders and I'm trying to ignore it wacko.gif

What kind of bumps do you get before hives? Are they sort of goosebumpy? I've noticed bumps like that come and go on my legs and stomach the last few days.

I am no doctor but I would have to say for sure HIVES - the spots come and go - the more you itch the more they are there - I don't remember actually seeing the spots until I started itching....try taking some benadryl before you go to bed - not only will it help with the HIVES but it will also make you sleep thumb.gif thumb.gif
