Finding this site is probably going to help me in so many ways... This is already my 3rd post, but I guess that's what this is all about, right?
Since the birth of Jaden, I have been on three different anti-depressants. Zoloft, Celexa and now Effexor. I don't know that any of them have really done anything. I've been on Effexor for a couple of months but I'm still a crazy mess. Please help me determine if there's more to it than just PPD... My "symptoms": *I cry for absolutely no reason at all.. Commercials, bumper stickers, songs.. even if they are happy, happy, happy! *I get super emotional over every little thing. *I take everything my honey, Garred, says very personally. *I start arguments over absolutely nothing. *I've even gotten violent towards Garred; I've thrown an ashtray at him that barely missed his head Am I going crazy or what??? -------------------- |

I'm not really sure, the only thing I could think of other than PPD is bipolar disorder (manic depression)?? But you don't mention any highs, only lows, and you didn't say whether it was going on before Jadens birth either.
So, I'm no help, sorry. -------------------- Nina, Mama to Emily Kate, Odessa Jean & Aysun Aleisha.

I'm sorry for all that you are going through. I don't know enough about PPD to answer your questions. But, I would definitely talk to you doctor about how you feel. There are a lot of women here who have dealt with PPD that may be able to help you more.
I do want to say Welcome to Parenting CLub though. I'm glad that you foudn us and I am looking forward to getting to know you. -------------------- |

Not crazy at all, but you definetly seem to be suffering from PPD, or depression in general. Is your doctor monitoring the side effects of the medication? When was the last time you seen him to discuss the lack of progress.
Anti-depressants usually take a couple weeks to start to take effect with as many as 6-8 weeks to take complete effect. If they aren't helping, you really need to go back to your Family Physician. You may have to try quite a few different ones until you find the one that's right for you. Also are you seeking any kind of councelling while taking the meds? This can really help you sort out your feelings and any underlining problems. If you need to talk, feel free to pm me, and feel free to read my story in the PPD forum. Marie -------------------- |

Glad you're here, I hope you enjoy it.
I also don't know enough about ppd but I would definitely mention it to your doctor. It may be side affects or it may be that you haven't found the right prescription yet. |

You're not CRAZY! But it does sound like you are experiencing Post Partum Depression or some other kind of depression. Not all medications work for all people and it sounds like you are not responding to SSRI's. I had this problem. I would talk to your doctor again, write down everything that you are feeling and keep a journal for about a week, outlining your thoughts and feelings.
