I need to get a move on if I'm going to be on a boat all summer....I know I can't get in shape overnight but I need recommendations for toning tummy and legs. I want maximum return with minimum effort But really, any good moves or DVD's for general toning? I already do some cardio, and I don't really want to lose weight, just shape up.

Yoga or Pilates is your best bet, Mon.
Oh and don't give up the cardio. Cardio is always good. This post has been edited by Maddie&EthansMom on Apr 10 2008, 05:01 PM |

Pilates is awesome for toning, but be warned that the first time or 2 you do it it will probably seem impossible!

Do Pilates videos do the same as the class? Or do you need the true equipment for it to really be effective?

No, you can do "mat pilates" and it will be just as effective. However, I would take a class to make sure you are doing it properly. It's not as easy as it looks. I took reformer pilates and loved it so much more than mat.

Monica, I have been doing a mat pilates class twice a week for about 3 weeks now and I see a huge difference in my core, butt and back of the thighs. All my problem areas. I have always been into cardio and weight training, but I swear, pilates has made so much more of a difference than months and months of the other two. And the best part about it, you're on a mat, lying down. No heavy weights, no loud music. Relaxing, but man is it HARD!

I was going to say Pilates too, not that I know, just what I've been told. I'm trying to find a DVD!

My mom gave me the Winsor Pilates series, I don't know if they're as good as a class at a gym but I'm going to give them a shot!
