I was playing with Ashley yesterday, I was perfectly fine, then out of nowhere, I had a VERY intense stabbing feeling on the top of my head. It felt like someone was repeatedly stabbing me on the top of my head. It only lasted for about a minute and then the stabbing feeling went away but it was very intense. I was then left with a residual headache across the top of my head. I have never had a headache like that before... Has anyone else experienced it? Most of hte headaches I get are across my eyes, temples and frontal lobe due to sinuses.

Yes, but when this happens it is usually near my temples. I think it's stress. I really don't know what causes it.

I've had that happen too, but I don't know if it was right on top of my head. I think it was on top but more to the front. I don't know what causes it.

I have gotten them too...but typically in the back of my head. Definitely stress and because of the frequency and intensity of my headaches i can officially say I have had EVERY freaking test done and there has never been a cause except needing to relax.

Yep! Not sure what causes them, though.

I got terrible headaches before I found out I had hypertension. I would not be able to hold my head up because the pain was so terrible. They never lasted long, the severe pain would be anywhere from 5 minutes to up to 3 hours and then I would get a milder headache.
Anyway I doubt it is from hypertension, I got told you have to have very high blood pressure to get the severe headaches. But I thought I'd mention it. -------------------- Nina, Mama to Emily Kate, Odessa Jean & Aysun Aleisha.

I had my blood pressure taken twice in the last week -- I had a sinus infection so I went to the doc. And then she wanted to see me again to make sure it was clearing up -- both times my bp was fine. -------------------- |

It sounds like you're describing a typical "ice pick" headache. I get them now and then too. From all I've read on the subject they're benign as long as they don't last long and aren't very frequent. If the frequency picks up or they last a long time you should get it checked. Otherwise there is no treatment recommended. Again, if they become frequent, there is a treatment for them, but frequent unexplained headaches of any kind should be checked out (unless you have daily sinus headaches like I do). I swear during some times of the year I take Advil like they're vitamins.

I did search on ice pick headaches and it does sound like it, except mine is on the top of my head. It happened again today and then I had to take some asprin, lay down for about an hour because I had a headache that I couldn't shake. I have regular sinus headaches too, but this is very different. I think it might be stress related as I have a lot of stress going on with work right now. If it happens again, I might talk to my doc about it though as it's weird that I have never experienced them before. -------------------- |
