Tomato Allergy?

Bronze Member Group: Members Posts: 168 Member No.: 20,810 Joined: 13-June 08	My dd tried tomatoes for the first time..She developed a rash on her chest area..nothing around ehr mouth though! Does this sound like an allergic reaction to tomaotes? I am just trying to put twoand tow together, but wasn't sure.. any advice or ideas is grealty apprecipated!

It was not an allergic reaction for him just a rash from the acid of the tomatoes. It goes away after a short time. Give her a bath and see what happens. I breakout after eating strawberries. I don't get hives around my mouth. Mostly around my chest and other parts of the body. Sometimes on my face and scalp. It would be a good idea to mention it to your DD's pediatrician IMO. The ped may refer you to an allergist to do a test. Same with strawberries and blueberries. When Sammy was one I gave him fresh strawberries and he broke out in hives on his wrist. I waited a year or so before giving him strawberries again and he's fine with them - no more hives. I've heard the same can be true about tomatoes.
