I am going to need your help..
I have contacted my two state reps..in the matter of letting kids carry epi-pens in their classrooms. Currently Pa's law is that the epi-pen is to be brought to school and kept locked up in the nurses office! What if she is in the bath room way down the hall? what if she is out of the building at lunch? What if the child needs this life saving medication right away..studies have shown that they have seconds to give the medication to save a childs life.
every second counts.
I have found that the HB 1377 bill died on the senate floor in Nov of 2008 because no one really cared about this bill, it wasnt brought to the attention of the public and the senators. I have compiled a list of all the state reps in all the counties of Pa. I can send you an email of each one, and I am asking you to write or call each one and tell them this bill is coming up again. That you do care and its time to pass it and allow the kids to keep the epi-pens in their class rooms with them at all times! currently they are not allowed to carry them on the bus at all!
If you are interested in helping, please email me. as most of you know, I do have a son with a severe peanut allergy, the thought of sending him to school is scaring me to death..please help me keep him safe..your voice does matter!
thank you hug.gif

Someone here posted a video awhile back about a girl who died at school due to an allergic reaction and not having her epi pen on her...anyone remember that? Might be useful to send that link to all the politicos.

I think its ok for out of state people to write also.
Let me post the link to the pa senators site (is that ok to do?)
and we are in franklin county..
I have asked people to just write the reps for our county as friends of jake who want to see this bill passed so he can go to school safely.

I am so happy to report that this morning there are 24 people who have joined our group to let kids carry epi-pens and all most all of them have written me to say that they have already emailed their reps!
I am so excited..
