This year, I want to try to throw a surprise party for Ashley. She's already said she wants a Polly Pocket themed party, and wants to help plan it. She really liked helping me do the Webkinz party last year. But, I think a surprise party will be really fun. She has mentioned a few times that we need to pick a date and time. I am thinking that I will just tell her that we don't have the money for a party this year, and I am sure she will just let it be at that. But, I feel guilty for lying to her... is there a way I can keep a surprise without telling so many lies? HELP

Would it be possible to let her pick a date AFTER your planned surprise party (a day? a week?) That way she thinks she's helping you plan and you're getting help? You could just say, I'll handle the invitations and getting them out".. you could even write on them or put in a little card explaining that this is a SURPRISE party and Ashley thinks it's such and such a date so please play along if she asks if you're coming"
