This same thing used to happen to my son when he was younger.
It was not an allergic reaction for him just a rash from the acid of the tomatoes. It goes away after a short time. Give her a bath and see what happens. I dont think its anything to worry about. -------------------- |

Tomatoes are an acidic fruit just like lemons and oranges. Which seem to be a common allergen. I breakout after eating strawberries. I don't get hives around my mouth. Mostly around my chest and other parts of the body. Sometimes on my face and scalp. It would be a good idea to mention it to your DD's pediatrician IMO. The ped may refer you to an allergist to do a test. Just because this time wasn't severe, you never know about the next.

Also, I think being allergic to tomatoes is fairly common in young kids and most of them will outgrow it. Same with strawberries and blueberries. When Sammy was one I gave him fresh strawberries and he broke out in hives on his wrist. I waited a year or so before giving him strawberries again and he's fine with them - no more hives. I've heard the same can be true about tomatoes.
I agree with Wil&wes' Mom about mentioning it to the pediatrician, though. -------------------- Peggy
