Hello, I rarely post on these boards but had a question. Im pretty healthy and underweight (108 lbs 5'8") I am looking to gain some weight and really just want some suggetions of what will add calories to my daily food intake. I have always been on the thin to average side but since the death of my daughter my weight has REALLY dropped (as low as 100 lbs) I know I don't eat enough and would like some suggestions. I eat pretty healthy but don't have lots of time to spend preparing meals. I eat three meals and usually a snack of granola or yogurt before bed. Ive thought about getting in some high energy bars but I dont know to much about them. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

From what I've heard, your best bet is to continue to eat healthy, just go for healthy foods that are higher in calories/good fats. Peanut butter is a good one - same with protein shakes for adding weight. Other than that, my only real suggestion is just try to eat a little more.

I wis hI could help... i'm focusing on dropping weight though. I'd say just add some fatty foods to your diet.

Same here. Wish I could help but I need tips on LOSING weight.
Well, obviously zingers, ho-hos, twinkies, and the like will pack on the pounds. Trust me I know. But that's not very healthy. I agree to keep eating healthy foods. GL. -------------------- ~*Karen*~

I've been trying to gain weight too. It is not an easy thing to accomplish! In fact, everything I've read says it's harder to gain weight than it is to lose it. If you know you aren't eating enough then definitely try to fix that-and eat a little more than you normally would. Eat foods higher in calories, and good fats. And exercise! That sounds contradictory, but you can do specific things to build muscle mass which will increase your weight. Oh and a friend of mine who is a nurse on an oncology unit suggested drinking Ensure. I have had success with simply eating regular meals and upping my caloric intake. Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be.
