Ryan has started to refuse to eat any of his baby foods. He will take one or two bites and that is it. He will still eat his puffs and baby cheerios.
Also the other night we had some mashed potatoes and he ate some of Robs. So I was wondering would it be ok to start him on some table foods? If so what all can I give him? I'm thinking he is really wanting to feed himself and not me. I know he can have some mashed up vegetables and fruits but what else can he have? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I can't remember exactly when I started giving the girls table food. -------------------- Tina wife to Rob (Sept. 25, 1999)

I completely skipped the pureed baby foods with Abby. She went from breastmilk only to plain, bland table foods. She was closer to 9-10 months old though. I gave her oatmeal & other hot cereals, fruit chunks, very softly cooked veggies, and bits of chicken.

My last 2 barely ate baby food...esp Jack. He hated it. But they loved regular food.

It's been a long time since Ashley was that age, but I think I started her off with mashed vegetables, fruits (she loved bananas), cheese, spaghetti (cut up small), hot cereals (cooled off, of course). Ashley also loved those Gerber Veggie crackers at that age. I can't remember, but I don't think I gave her meats until she was a little older.
I'd just caution you to watch how much cheese and bananas he eats... those can constipate a baby pretty easily. -------------------- |

Ok, thanks for the help. I just wanted make sure it was ok to start him with the table foods.
I wasn't really sure what all he could have since it has been awhile since the girls were babies. I think I'm going go out today and get him some fruits and veggies. I might make some spaghetti tonight and see how he likes it. Just one more question when I start him out on meats. How do I prepare the meat? Do I need to boil it, broil, or bake it? I'd just cook it how you'd cook the meal for everyone else. Be sure to trim off the skin on chicken & make sure there's no bones. And avoid the seasonings as well. HTH! -------------------- ~*~Mollie~*~ Mom to Logan, Quentin, Ethan, Hannah, Kayla, & Abigail! |

Yep, Miabella wasn't a huge fan of that stuff either. I hope he enjoys the table food better.

Aiden ate baby food for only about a month. By the time he was 6 months he was eating only formula and table food. He has eating everything you can imagine, within reason since he only has 2, almost 4 teeth now. He basically has been eating whatever we eat at the table, unless it's too spicy or he can't chew it. I don't leave out the spices either.

Ok, that is good to hear. I was wondering if he would have foods with some flavor. He still only has one tooth but he seems to chew up cheerios and puffs with no problem. He is always licking his lips when we are eating something like he wants some. So I'm just going give him what we have long as it is not to spicy. I gave him little bit of meat yesterday but didn't seem care for it to much. -------------------- Tina wife to Rob (Sept. 25, 1999)

He loves my fett. alfredo...I use a lot of fresh garlic with that. He also loves italian spices. He also doesn't like hamburger much, he's more of a chicken kind of man. I made italian chicken the other day and he LOVED it! I used chicken breasts, maranaded them in a garlic herb sauce, then baked them with speghetti sauce. Then pulled pieces apart for him and he gobbled up a whole chicken breast by the time he was done. He ate more than Tanner! ETA: Since Aiden only has few teeth he has learned to chew really well with his gums. He mashes stuff up really well. Poor thing is 10 1/2 months old and still only has 2 visible teeth he can use, and they're in the front so he can barely use them!
