I am scared and nervous, my DD Brittany (12yo) leaves for DC with her class in two weeks.
I will probably cry the entire time she is gone. She has never been away from home without me! -------------------- |

Have you thought about going with her. A friend of mine went with his daughter and it's free , you only have to pay for your child.
She will have fun. Don't be to hard on yourself , she'll ba back before you know it. |

Aweee... We'll have to get together and you can cry on my shoulder!!! But, I think you are doing the right thing letting her go. Maybe you can get her a cell phone with free long distance or a prepaid calling card so she can call you often!
Hugs! -------------------- |

So, she leaves pretty soon? Or has she already left? I figured two weeks from the post would be next Wednesday, but do they leave sooner? We'll be here if you need a shoulder. I remember the first time my kids went somewhere without me, it was tough, but they did have a really good time without mommy always there over their shoulder -

They were schedule to leave on May 28,03 but it has been postponed until June 9 because of the terror alert and email. So she will leave on June 9 and return June 14. Now I have another couple of weeks to worry before she leaves.
She was elected president of her school student council, so she will get to lay the wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier during the ceremony. She is really excited about it. I hope someone gets a picture for me! This post has been edited by ashade75 on May 23 2003, 07:38 AM -------------------- |

Okay guys, I balled my eyes out this morning! My DD left to go to DC.
I felt silly crying as she boarded that big coach bus with her friends. She was smiling and waving and I was crying and crying and crying and crying. I cried all the way home and I am tearing up right now thinking about it. I hope she has a good time. A a SAFE trip. Friday can't come soon enough. I already miss her. -------------------- |

Don't feel so bad! I was crying when Logan, my oldest went on his first sleep-over! Yes, it's scary having them so far away, but just think how much she will learn! She'll be that much smarter about the world. Wow, and laying the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Solider, that's important stuff! I'm SO proud of her; she sounds like a remarkable young woman! Wishing her a safe and happy trip, and a safe and happy return home! |

It's hard letting go, but it's something that all of us mommies have to deal with at one time or another.....
I am sure she will have a blast, and if you get lonely you can always come here and post and we'll give you our support!! Hugs to you - and I am sure the week will go pretty quickly. She is a very special young woman to have a mom that cares as much as you do.... -------------------- Beverly, DH Eje, and mom to PJ, 20 Leah, 18 Sara, 16 Anders, 5
