Umm I'm a both girl. Just depends, usually when I'm home though, I stick with pads, or at night. When I go out, tampons.

As for this, this is true mostly if you leave the tampon in too long (more then 6 hours) or if it's in to long for the flow you're having. Then yes bacteria can build up.

I finally broke down because the pads were irritating my skin, and now I hate using pads.
