Im 10 weeks and he told me to come back in 4 weeks that we could hear it then. I also changed dr.'s and have another appointment with this other dr. that I've been seeing all along and I have to get all my records and blood test back from him and bring to this new dr. and I'll do all that Friday
mabye he will try for me and see if we can hear it then I don't know if he wil, yall know how those dr.'s are.

I am sorry that you didn't get to hear the heartbeat, I know that can be disappointing. Did your Doc even try? If not, he deserves a smack with the virtual sauce pan! smash.gif I think my Doc told me that you can hear it around 12 weeks, but sometimes they are able to hear it a little earlier. So, you shouldn't be worried. But, I understand the disappointment.

Hopefully your new Doc will at least give it a try! You'll be able to hear the heartbeat soon.gif !

But, glad to hear all else went well -- thanks for letting us know how it went!

Kristi,

I'm sorry you didn't get to hear the little one... Dr's do that because generally, you can't hear the hb before 12 weeks.. I know of some who have heard it earlier (I did at 11+ weeks), but it's really hard to get it and you need to be on the thin side. So, they do it because it can be upsetting and worrisome to moms "not" being able to hear it. I guess they have the mentality that if you don't try, you won't worry, whereas, if you do try, can't hear it, you will worry. I don't know.

In any case, I hope you like your other dr.. smile.gif

O well just have to be patient I guess (something Im not) and lets just say Im not one of those on the skinny side
I was wathcing the decovery channel the other night and they even said on there people form Louisiana have the highest ratio of over weight people
I guess so its all the damn coon asses and ther cajuin meals around here what do they expect rolleyes.gif (my husband is one of them) course he doesn't cook I do that
but any way thanks for making me feel better

Don't worry Kristi.. it won't be long and you'll hear it. smile.gif

I remember when my dh first heard out daughters hb. It was the first time for him to every hear something like that (my daughters are from a previous marriage, if I haven't already mentioned that)... he got all teary-eyed. It was so incredible to see him so touched by it.

When we were pregnant with our son, and I rented the doppler, he eventually learned how to find the hb himself.. he was pretty tickled with that too.

Just a couple weeks, and you'll be posting how awesome a sound it is! wink.gif

Kristi, I got mine when I was about 11 weeks along. It was important to me to know that I could hear the heartbeat anytime I wanted to. And the first time I tried, I couldn't find it.. but I did get a faint beat at 11.5 weeks.. then not again for about 2 more weeks. I didn't stress out on it though, because I know how hard it is to find it in the early weeks. It's still down there behind the pubic bone and really doesn't pop out from there until 12 weeks or so.. I kept mine until about a month after Teigen was born. I just didn't get around to sending it back until then.

Hey kristi!
Yes, please let us know how it went with the Doc today. And, how you like the monitor. I am sure some of the other expecting Moms would like to know more about the monitor as well.

I was wondering the same thing about Liz. It's been almost a week since she posted and she was posting a message everyday! She did say that she was getting pretty busy at work. I hope things are alright with her. I was thinking about emailing her. Let us know if you talk to her and how she is doing.
