I had been wanting to re-do my master bed room for about 9 months now, and finally got around to doing it. I have been working feverishly all week and this is the final result. what do you guys think?
I took 2 pics, one with flash and one with out. I didn't know which way the stripes would show up better. In real life the stripes are definitely noticeable, but they are very subtle. I still have to put up pictures and all that, but that will come at a later date. cool.gif

tux.gif thankyou. tux.gif I am pretty proud of how it turned out. I was cussing myself when I was doing it tho. Why the heck can't I just paint a room one color and be done with it? everything I paint requires at least 5 rolls of tape. dry.gif (think nursery with hand painted flowers... rolleyes.gif ) I did learn a lesson tho, if you are going to try this, DO NOT mark the lines off with carpenters chalk. It doesn't vacuum out of carpet, and it blends with the paint, so I have a TON of touch up work to do. Most of my stripes have blue edges. growl.gif

WOW, I LOVE IT! What is the difference in the paint? Is one satin and one semi gloss? It looks the same color but different gloss.

I painted the whole thing egg shell, then did high gloss stripes. It looks kinda cool IRL, like fancy wall paper or something.

define "hard" unsure.gif definitely time consuming, and don't use chalk. what ever you do. It was easier than Ally's room, that took me 2 weeks to paint! This only took me 3 days. Including the time I spent on the master bath, but I didn't bother with stripes in there.

He is concerned about getting the stripes straight. You used the chalk line that you snap? Did you just eyeball it or use a level? Ok, enough questions for the night.

I measured out every 8 inches on the top and bottom of the wall, then snapped a chalk line. All my lines came out very straight, and I only used a level for under the windows.
but, I wouldn't suggest using chalk, because it sticks to the paint under the tape and leaves a faint thin blue line on all the stripes edges that can't be washed off. I am going to have to go in with a detailing brush and touch up a bunch of the stripes. After the fact my Dh looked on line to see how professionals do it and they suggest using a laser level and a tri-pod.

Wow, it looks amazing! I've seen that stripe technique done on TV but never knew anyone who attempted it, you have a lot of patience to do all that but it looks incredible! thumb.gif
