![]() Changing lives one diaper at a time since 2006 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group: Members Posts: 839 Member No.: 3,297 Joined: 15-February 06 |
Do any of you make homemade wipes using paper towels? We LOVE them (they work great and are SO cheap) but I just opened some that I had made a few weeks ago and they are a little moldy. Not bad but there are definently some spots. I've never noticed this before. Should I throw them away? Any suggestions on how to prevent this next time?

I got the recipe from a relative when Alex was first born and I made them once, They didn't get moldy but we used them up pretty quickly.
I dont know much about it, no advice on how to prevent molding They are super easy and super inexpensive!! http://www.netcooks.com/recipes/Kids/Homem...Baby.Wipes.html -------------------- |

We make our own as wel, but i use those little baby washcloths/ or homem\hade flannel ones (cause we use cloth diapers so might as well wash the wipes in with the diapers). Fo r wipes solution i have found that if they sit more than 2-3 days they smell and get moldy, esspecially if you keep them too warm (liek sittin gin teh sun, or if the container is tightly sealed. We ended up making a wipes solution and keeping it in a bottle like the foamy handsoap comes in, and i just squirt that on a wash cloth thing and use that. That way they can travel anywhere, never dry out or have any issues

Thanks for the link. A roll of Bounty is cheaper then wipes. I will have to try it and see how it works.

I've made my own before with an Amish recipe that requires rain water. Tap water worked for me
